Extremely Rare Opalescent Madonna and Child. Centre Piece Art Deco Original on Stand. This is an art deco large pretty Opalescent original Centre Piece with the Madonna and Child figurine. It is very heavy thick glass throwing out colour. This was made in France by Etling Glass in the Depression Era 1930s. The Madonna is holding the Child on her left side with both Madonna and the child facing the same direction. Madonna has a long gown on with a veil over her head. The metal stand has “MADE IN FRANCE” on the underside of the stand. The Madonna is 11.5 inches or 29 cm high and 3.5 inches or 9cm in diameter across the base. The Madonna and Child Figurine is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or damage. These are getting very scarce, you don’t see them very much anymore. Have a look at all the photos to see the lovely colour and condition. I know what it is like to get broken items and feel bitterly disappointed when they are not wrapped properly. Yura – Centre Seam Polar Bear, Very Rare Early Antique Teddy, c1910. This is Yura, a very early and rare, jointed Polar Bear. She was almost certainly made by Steiff or Strunz, but has no button to identify her. In Inuit, her name means “One Who Is Beautiful”, and she truly is wonderful. Her limbs are jointed, and her neck was constructed with a special ball-joint, meaning that it can be manipulated to allow her to look up, down and side to side – this is different to later versions which had a tail-moves-head mechanism, and fixed limbs. She stands 14cm tall and was made around 1910. She would be great anyway, but what makes her extra special is that her head has a centre-seam. Her squeaker no longer works, and two of her felt pads are torn, but other than a small stain under her neck and some very small holes close to her shoulder joint shes in really nice condition.
