A rare antique Victorian ceramic egg cruet in the form of a basket with gilded enhancement. It was made by the Staffordshire potters Wiltshaw and Robinson under their swallow mark (early Carlton ware). It is raised on four dainty and decorated feet and finished with a carrying handle also with a gilded design. It is in very good condition for its age with the gilded decoration seemingly largely intact with just some very light rubbing here and there that can only be seen on close examination, as too is the very fine crazing which the piece possesses. There are no cracks, chips or any restoration to the piece. Displays beautifully, a rare and lovely Victorian item. Maker’s marks: please see image.
