Base of bottle embossed : MARTIN H. / CHEMISTS / NEW YORK. Condition : Bottle has overall wear and stain (patina) from age and use, and it has a shallow surfaced bubble. Overall it is an excellent solid bottle and these is nothing specifically wrong with it. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. PLEASE see pictures for better idea of overall condition. Age : A ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. T hese bottle contained a patent medicine and one of the main ingredients in it was Heroin, Glyico Heroin. Heroin was used over a century ago as an ingredient in cough syrup, to suppress the cough and suppressing the discomfort that is associated with it. Yet it did much more than that as patients came to find out that they kept using the syrup long after the cough was gone. As they say,’Caution, may be habit forming’. To say the least! Heroin is one of the most addictive substances known to mankind. This is one of the very few antique bottles that we know of that actually has the word ” HEROIN ” embossed in the glass which makes it quite appealing. THIS CLASSIC VICTORIAN SCENT BOTTLE IS MADE OF FABULOUS RARE APPLE GREEN URANIUM GLASS WHICH WAS HAND PRESSED INTRICATE DESIGN BUT COMPARED TO MOST OF PERFUME BOTTLES THIS AGE IT HAS SURVIVED VERY WELL CONSIDERING. THIS DELIGHTFUL BOTTLE IS RARE INDEED BEING IN SUCH GREAT CONDITION AND WITH ORIGINAL GLASS STOPPER. VERY ATTRACTIVE UNUSUAL DIAMOND FLORAL DESIGN. BOTTLE IS OFFERED IN GREAT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS CRACKS OR FRACTURES TO THE GLASS BODY. Superb antique Baccarat Perfume Bottle C 1850 This bottle is not signed by maker, common for early Baccarat. This bottle is from my private collection, a favorite of mine. I have had it on display in my cabinet now for over 25 years. The glass is green vaseline and it glows like crazy even in regular daylight. All the pictures except one… Just a large picture window. The last picture shows this perfume bottle in a very dark room with just a small black tube light. Measurements= Approx 7 inches tall and almost 4 inches wide at the base. 2 oz There are 8 cut panels and a perfect trefoil Skirt. The mouth opening is rare to find with its extended flared panels cut out and a sharp outward pitched point in between each panels. The throat is factory polished on the inside… The bottom is even cut with panels that are scalloped at the ends. The top is colorless glass. It is one of the nicer tops you may see. It has some weight to it and feels wonderful in your hands. It features a very long and slender neck with a flat cut top and flat cut sides to round it out…. The bottom of the stopper is flat and polished and is numbered 39 There is one nick to a edge on the top… Located at the lower center edge. The bottle is not marked by any number or maker. The top fits very well and the stopper bottom portion fits all the way down to its neck as it should. This bottle is so fine… You may find similar bottles but they will come up short if compared to this fine bottle. CONDITION: MINT with the exception of the white speck and the nick on the stopper. Unless of course a mistake was made, such as missing something important that should have been pointed out. Other wise the return is void or partial return in some cases. Packing: I take pride in my packing…. I use a roomy sturdy box with plenty of packing materials, I double box unless its not needed. I pack so that you will have a easy time of unwrapping your item. It was toned down, the Heroin ingredient was dropped, but as the label states on this one, it was still “HABIT FORMING” as it still had a narcotic ingredient (Codeine / Opium) and was classified as an “EXEMPT NARCOTIC”. So instead of it being Glyco-Heroin with Heroin in it, it became Gly-Keron with Codeine in it, as this example is. This is one of a very few antique bottles that has surpassed a century of time with the paper label intact, which makes it quite appealing since the label mentions both CODEINE and OPIUM , check it out!
