An antique early Georgian North Yorkshire oak dresser base with pot board. Dating to the early 1700s. Fresh to market and sourced from just outside Harrogate. Well built in thick timber and using peg construction, this is a wonderful robust example. With stunning time worn deep polished patina, and central silhouette leg. The branded maker’s initials W. R present to the dresser front is a charming detail. The slatted end panels are an interesting and more unusual feature. Its design is certainly more inline with that of a more rural aesthetic. The pot board base makes this ideal to take centre stage in a kitchen interior. The hefty English oak has developed a deep warm hue which is very attractive. The small losses and knots in the timber to the top have become deeply polished, illustrating its long life of use. A perfect piece for any cottage or country home. The boards to the interior are particularly thick and chamfered. Another nice detail this wonderful piece boasts. The top has naturally warped gently which really does give even more character to the dresser. This does not effect use, more so empathise it’s significant age. There is a small circular recess to the front apron, most likely where a coin would have been inset. Possibly from when the piece was originally made. Given this was common place with other pieces of treen and some furniture during this period, this explanation seems very reasonable. Widest point – 166.5cm. Height – 96.3cm. Depth – 57.3cm. Front aperture height – 60.8cm. Interior depth – 51cm. Interior width – 151.8cm. Structurally sound and ready to use. No signs of repair or restoration. Wear and tear commensurate with age. Some evidence of minor non active historic wood worm. Although this is surprising very little considering the age of the dresser. This has been treated additionally for peace of mind. A historic small gap has formed between the two planks which form the top. This is to be expected. A single historic small timber infill to either end is present, this is where the dresser top would have dropped into place. A nice original untouched piece of Georgian rural oak furniture. For all those who love the workmanship and lure of cooking on an old Griswold pan, this rare sought after piece is hard to find, especially complete! This is one of the earliest waffle irons Griswold made! It is The American! It was made in the 1880’s. I found it in our old 1800’s Vermont farmhouse kitchen. Being a lover of all things cast iron, especially Griswold I immediately put this waffle iron to use on our wood cook stove. And I have to say it makes the most delicious waffles, maybe because it brings you back to a simpler way of life when cooking was meant to be made with love and without rush. This cast iron Griswold waffle iron is in very good vintage condition. There is some age related wear and some mild minor pitting. There are also 2 old braised repairs on the base. It’s underneath and is not visible and clearly they are strong as they have withstood the test of time. And also the hundreds of waffles I have made with it over an open fire! The griddle irons are 8 in in diameter and 1 in high with 5 in long wooden handles that are black. The low base is 10 in in diameter and 1.25 in high and a 4.5 inch long ornate cast iron handle. Please note, I do not over clean any of my cast iron or antiques. The only thing I have done to this waffle iron is seasoned it yearly with olive oil.

Der Dirigent aus der “galanten Kapelle” ist NICHT Bestandteil des Angebots! Er dient lediglich dazu, die enorme Größe zu veranschaulichen! Hersteller: original Meissen / blaue Schwertermarke unterglasur. 10 x 26 x 26 cm. Alter / Herstellung: Knaufzeit – siehe Schwertermarke / Bilder. Zustand: diverse Bestossungen / Altrestaurationen – Brandriss auf der Sockelunterseite. Fazit: Ein außergewöhnlich großer, aufwendiger und beeindruckender Tafelaufsatz. Ein echter Blickfang, mit herrlichem Gesamteindruck und Farbenpracht in gutem Zustand. Bitte beachten Sie, dass es sich bei diesem Stück um einen sehr alten, gebrauchten, seltenen und beliebten Gegenstand handelt, der üblicherweise Gebrauchsspuren aufweist (wenn er nicht restauriert wurde). Wir vertreten als Sammler die Grundauffassung, dass insbesondere alte, sehr seltene und aufwendige Stücke unrestauriert sein sollten so wie sie in den Museen meist präsentiert werden! Und einen besonderen, sehr schönen Gesamteindruck hinterlassen sollten. Herstellungsbedingte Brandrisse sind insbesondere bei sehr großen Objekten eher die Regel statt der Ausnahme. Die Spannung (der großen Masse) entlädt sich beim Brennen im Riss und ist endgültig, er verändert sich nicht mehr (der Haarriss hingegen wandert in der Regel). A very rare large set of six brass candlesticks. Dating to the early 19th Century, this beautiful set would make a wonderful display. Designed in the’Petal Base’ style and of very elegant form. The condition is very good overall with no dents or splits, but with some slight age related wear. Total weight approx 2.5kg. Base diameter approx 11.5cm.
