A gorgeous and large Victorian opal set in a silver pinched setting was likely once part of a magnificent river necklace of similar opals – can you imagine the impact that would’ve had on a Victorian lady’s neck? This stone is magical and full of life. Every angle reveals flashes of reds, blues, greens, and oranges and in almost any light. This is no wallflower. Some opals only showcase their colours at one or two angles – not this one. A huge finger presence measuring at 25mm x 15mm x 5mm, approximately 10ct. Although a sizeable stone, opals tend to take on a subtlety that cannot be matched with other stones so this is a versatile piece; able to be dressed up or down. Full hallmarks on the inside of the shank for 9k. This was done sometime in its history and I do not want to replace it. Opal is stable and secure in the setting. Bronze Kangaroo ghj A fine piece of Australian bronze made by reputable makers Stokes and Sons. It is actually quite an early example and it;s quite the rarity to have any notable makers mark. On an early piece of Australian bronze. The piece dates to the period 1908 – 1920, and has been very well made indeed. The thick and hefty nature of the piece not to mention the detail of the hair on the roo. All stand to reason that the figure was moulded with care and high regard. It stands 13cm tall by15cm wide and weighs in 770 grams. A sound piece of Australiana.
