Amazing early silk brocade. Dense and luminous in a larger fern design with pale silvery metallic. Sublime French sourced early brocade though may also be Italian in origin. Either way, an exquisite find. Possibly either once part of a banner, window piece or even clothing, cloak etc.. Not certain but the scallop is very unique and ornamental. Safely early 19thc but feel strongly earlier. Overall, again very strong. There are some subtle faint abrasions, minimal and seen mostly when you lay it down as when it’s upright, the reflection hides them well and it looks quiet pristine. The scallop backing is a very thin silk & is somewhat frail but overall stable. It’s been overall well maintained through it’s journey given it’s age and pale color. It begins at about 18″ in width and gradually goes to about 21″ by 20 long. The scallops add apox 4. At the time of this listing I have 2 almost identical pieces to offer so you can select from the available quantity. Strong enough to be used in special projects, framed or added to a collection. A most marvelous find. I sell antique and vintage fabric. Each textile is different; some possibly used, some unused. I will give you my best assessment. An original rare Zeotrope or sometimes known as’Wheel of Life’ with a selection of paper & cardboard cards. Possibly German made around 1880. The instrument freely spins on the iron pivot although it does wobble a bit – maybe due to use. Wooden base has some old wood-worm to one side. Original black paint is scratched in places as you would expect for an item this old. Height 36cms; diameter of cylinder 30.4cms. RARE ANTIQUE FRENCH CALENDAR CLOCK early 19thC SWEEP SECONDS & PIN PALLET ESC. Rare French calendar clock c1810 offered in good working order and good condition. This large clock with long duration mechanism has 5 hands to the dial showing date, day, hours, minutes and seconds. The magnificent mahogany case of ziggurat form with ebonised sections, applied ormolu ornamentation and a parquet type floor to the interior. The unmarked mechanism is large and runs for over 3 weeks. With pin pallet escapement and large ormolu sunburst pendulum seen swinging in the opening below the dial. Weighs 8.6kg before wrapping. The large case stands 22″ (56cm) high, 15.75″ (40cm) wide and 6.5 (16.5cm) deep. The large dial 7 (18cm) in diameter. 19th CENTURY EARLY OLD ORIGINAL RARE FOLK ART DECORATED IRON LEVER BARN DOOR LATCH AND KNOB HANDLE. Exceptional early barn door hardware and is a very rare original still mounted in its original wood door fragment. The decorative form loop style handle on the one side when turned, turns the lever up on the other latch side. The latch itself is highly folk art incised. The latch mechanism itself measures 9 3/8” in across length while the whole piece measures approximately 13 1/2” x 11 1/2”. This would look outstanding on a rustic antique interior door. RARE Victorian Early Electric Articulated Swivel-Arm clamp-on lamp. I have done much research, but was not able to conclusively identify the maker of this remarkable lamp. Clearly the design indicates that it dates from the late 19th century, and it was also obviously an electric lamp (an early model) – never a gas lamp – but beyond that I don’t know. Could have been a medical or dental lamp, or perhaps simply for the parlor of an affluent and forward-looking early adopter of electricity. Very well made, with original worn fire-gilt finish and patina intact. Socket was replaced at some point, since the one on it now is a slightly later model (1905-ish, I believe). Comes with a fine ruffled’French-etched’ shade, replete with botanicals and cherubim. Shade has slight roughness at the fitter (typical of the era), and one very small’flea’ bite on the ruffled edge, almost impossible to see and photograph, but I did take a photo of it. Rewired with cotton-jacketed cord, there is approx 5′ of running cord from the clamp end.
