RARE EARLY HADRILL HORSTMANN PROTOTYPE ROLLER LAMP. 1940s INDUSTRIAL ANGLEPOISE

ULTRA RARE PROTOTYPE HADRILL HORSTMANN ROLLER LAMP. Designed by Fredjo Horstmann, this lamp dates from the 1940s. London stamp (not the later Godalming stamp 1950s onwards). This is a prototype lamp with extended base (this is a large desk lamp not a floor lamp). The lamp has been professionally polished to a mirror finish on the base, shade, fork and counterweight. The shade itself has retained its shape, but there are a couple of minor dents and scratches/scuffs (difficult to photograph due to the reflective surface). Please be aware that the lamp is over 70 years old. It has had a working life and it therefore has imperfections. Contact me if you would like additional photographs. New chrome bulb holder and re-wired in 3-core, grey vintage flex. Not currently PAT tested, so you are advised to get it checked. Fully extended the lamps stands at approx 1.1m in height. Offered here are two cut Fisk signs that make one used but complete Fisk tires sign. Both pieces Found cut and nailed to a garage for siding. Sign has paint / wear rust around edges and condition issues but could display really well. When found it was facing with the back of sign outside, painted with old silver paint. These two pieces were from separate signs but they can match up perfectly. See photos, ask any questions. 1940s Hadrill Horstmann Floor Standing Counterweight Lamp Rare Early Prototype

Extremely rare Hadrill Horstmann counterweight lamp. I know of only one other in existence which is in a private collection. This lamp predates the’Roller’ design with a large suspended weight. The weight is sprung on its shaft. I believe it was a prototype which was superceded by the roller. Interestingly the limbs are not stamped with branding. I think at this stage decal labels were used but would have been on magnifier cover. No repainting on top half it’s all completely original scuffs and all. Though actually it’s in remarkably good condition for its age (1940s). It has been disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and polished. Every but and washer is present and original including all the knurled nuts. Corners of shade have small bolted reinforcements. Very subtle but may not be original. Stand has been repainted. It connects to lamp via a solid steel shaft which protrudes about 4 inches from base and exactly fits the middle tube. Side brackets can be adjusted. There are four independent parts so the current arrangement is just how I thought they looked tidy. Not sure how these were originally used. All rewired with new braided flex. Vintage bulb holder which is properly earthed and is switched. I’ll do my best to wrap her up but I can’t box it. My estimate is it weighs around 20 kilos. Rare 1941 Fisk tires sign measuring at about 73×25. Heavy metal sign with a Beverly like border. Has some condition issues as seen. Scratch near the makers mark on bottom right, a piece missing on right side edge. Some nail holes through sign. Sign was nailed face in to a shed. Wear/paintloss/surface rust around the border and some slight bending around border as well. Graphics are very good and could still be cleaned more. I just wiped with warm water and a towel. See all photos, ask any questions. Will pack this very carefully.
