Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a very unusual pair of antique English Pietra Dura hard stone inlaid on marble candle holders. These unusual candle holders are made of black marble and feature the front panel with Pietra Dura hard stone decoration with beautiful coloration in the stones. Measure 10″ tall with the candle opening being 1″ in diameter and a base diameter of 4 square. Weight is 6.0 pounds. These gorgeous candlesticks have some minor nicks in the marble as expected with functional items of this age. The flaws are minor no-harm nicks around the bottom edge on corners and one candlestick has a small chip on the upper rim (see photos). The Pietra Dura inserts are in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. No other noted flaws. Felt cover on bases as found. This is certainly a UK piece made in Ashford Derbyshire during the 18/19th centuries. Similar pieces/styles in Chatsworth House, Derbyshire and go under the name Ashford Marble. Give away is the limestone coral inlay which is shown on the side of the piece – Italians so never had this sort of coral limestone. In Derbyshire it is very common and was turned into all sorts of architectural/monastic columns/items. The product is quite rare. Easy to check – Ashford marble is a natural bitumen filled marble (mined locally in Ashford under water) which takes a high polish when cut and burns when heated. Flat Italian pieces used a different stone with no bitumen. We at Antiques & Moore have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible. SUPER RARE EARLY 1900s JAPANESE 950 STERLING SILVER SMOKERS SET IN ORIGINAL CASE. 4 piece set consisting of Ashtray, Matchbox Holder, Cigarette Case & Kiri wood tray. The set is hallmarked but the hallmarks are extremely small & nearly impossible to decipher (see last photo). The total combined weight of the set is over 800 grams, but that includes the wooden tray. The tray has twin handles with the rim lined with silver. Appears that the set was originally given as a present as on the side of the cigarette case the words. The back lining of the case has pulled away (see photo) but would be very easily fixed. _gsrx_vers_603 GS 6.9 (603). ANTIQUE SILVER BELT I bought this belt at an antique shop in Varanasi, India in the mid 80s, & it is made in a very unusual floral Mughal style. It looks beautiful on a pair of pants, skirt or dress, really does a lot to embellish say a black dress or so. It is adjustable & measures 41″ long by just over 1″ at the web & 1 1/4 at the buckle, very hard to find anything like this in India & more than a thousand dollars there.. Listed for sale is a rare and original early 1950s walnut LCM lounge chair, designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. Walnut veneer looks excellent with minimal wear as can be seen in the photos. Shock Mounts and Screws. Screws are all original, shock mounts are holding and strong. Appears that underside shock mounts may have been redone, but using correct parts (likely a factory job). And I will make sure that it is as inexpensive for you as possible. Thank You, Christian Chaffee. This is an early antique Japanese Kutani vase, fresh from an old estate. It is hand painted with dragons, flowers, and decorative elements. This is a rare investment quality vase. This measures about 13 3/4″ tall x 9″ diameter. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT. This has a few glaze pops and cracks. There are a couple of areas with surface scuffing, as pictured above. It does not have any major damage or chips. This weighs about 5 lbs 4 oz before packing. Please wait for your invoice before paying. On expensive fragile items, we may need to double box them. This will require additional labor and material costs.
