Very rare original 16th century Swiss stained glass window (not a later 19th century recreation). These silver stained glass lead-light windows often celebrated a wedding and this particular window displays family arms and text caption below in German pertaining to family name’the house of… And dated above and below 1517- incidentally the start of Martin Luther’s Protestant Reformation that year. Excellent original colours that look magnificent in the light. In the photos the panel is angled against a white wall with a small amount of light illuminating from the back. Note, when flat against a wall the panel looks less lively as shown in last photo. Originally would have most likely been inset into a larger plain roundel type window in the family’s home as a centrepiece from what I understand. Measures 485mm x 370mm. Condition is outstanding for age and the lead appears to be original as are all the stained glass panels, there is only one very fine hairline crack to corner of one panel as can be seen in photo 4; part from that I really cannot fault this window. Difficult to find anywhere in the world of this age, quality and condition… Really belongs in a museum! From a local smoke free house is this Rare early antique mourning pin or brooch. It is made of 18K yellow gold, contains woven hair with a monogram center under glass, and is engraved on the back, F. It is not dated but is similar to other early examples we found dating from the later 1700’s to the early 1800’s. The pin measures about 1 1/4 inches high and about 1 inches wide. The pin was tested to be at least 18K and weighs about 8.72 grams or 5.6 pennyweight. It is in excellent condition. See photos as they are part of the description. There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. A very decorative and well made piece, the burr walnut veneer looks good enough to eat from every angle, if luscious timber patina is your thing then look no further as this table has it in spades. The table has a lift top, the underside of the lid shows you just how rich the colour could be if you had this piece fully restored to include a French polish, personally I like the slightly duller colour, its shows the honesty of age. As mentioned you have lovely fretwork carved lids inside, ideally suited for cards and general nick knacks relating to games. The table has very high end inlaid detailing, the skill and craftsmanship required is absolutely mind blowing. The legs are carved to the top in the traditional English manor. The condition is period so has some normal scratches and marks here and there, theres nothing serious to note other than some raised sections to the veneer here and there and general little cracks.
