EARLY SCOTTISH CINEMA SIGN. A rare early cinema sign, in untouched condition since the day it was last used to display the evenings movies in 1955, in Scotland – Timberjack and African Manhunt. The cardboard spacers have a lovely naturally worn and aged patina, creating wonderful contrasting colours against the dark stencil letters. The paper lining at the back which is used to help illuminate the letters has been damaged to the top, which is likely the reason it was discarded and not used again. I have taken pictures of it with and without a light behind it, to show how it would have looked in use. This could be achieved as a permanent display if you create a light box for example. I however, have left it as found. 96cm H x 65cm W x 3cm D.

Hello and I appreciate your time. I pack well and attempt to pack just like it was coming to me. I will describe this item to the best of my ability and knowledge. This is Not a repro and Guaranteed Original and comes from a Long-Time Collection. This is a Very Early American Ink and might be from Keene Glass House in New Hampshire. Although, it is Very Unusual that it does Not have Ribs or Flutes near the base on side. It has a Larger Hobnails. It also has Smooth Shoulders. I would date it from about 1815 to about 1840. It stands about 1 3/4 inches tall and about 2 1/4 inches across at base. It stands about 2.5 inches tall. It is dark Black Glass and has a Beautiful Color through light. It has a partial open air bubble at opening to about onion skin depth. It has some tiny nicks on top disc edge, or it could be in-making. Not sure, but very small and mentioned for accuracy’s sake. It has some Honest base wear. No cracks and No repairs. It has Great Shine and is clean. You will be Pleased with this Top-Shelf Example! This is a very unique and early time period cast iron spittoon. It is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, holes, or structural rust. There may be some minor signs of wear due to age. The top is coated with an enamel coating. The rest of the piece is raw cast iron and is very heavy! This is a very nice antique piece and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
