A vintage wristwatch “Amphibian” that was produced at the Russian plant “Vostok” approximately in the 1960s. It was one of the earliest batch of “Amphibian” watches. Vintage retro watch, about 60 years old. Special removable “ears” (lugs), that’s why such watches are called “Eared Amphibian”. Stainless steel case. Diver water resistance case (200m). Designed for diving, swimming, scuba diving, surfing on the waves in both salt and fresh water (wasn’t tested); t. He crown should be unscrewed for winding. New zulu strap. Original plastic glass. 18 jewels Soviet mechanism (there’s the inscription “Made in the USSR” at the bottom of the dial; all the inscriptions are in English so the watch might be done for export). Serviced by a professional master. “Vostok” (translated as “East”) produces military and diver mechanical/automatic watches in Chistopol, Tatarstan, Russia. The name of the watches was chosen in honor to the amphibian – a creature that feels comfortable both in water and on land. By order of the Navy of the USSR, the “Vostok” plant began to produce the military modification of the “Amphibian” watch, that was successfully tested during the naval exercises in the North Sea. In 1975 the watch was even used when flying into space. For its age (about 60 years old) the watch is in good condition, runs well and keeps time accurately. The mechanism was serviced by a professional watch master. The luminous dial is well-highlighted. The bezel is scratched and scuffed, doesn’t rotate. Rare Early 20th Century Fold Up Sink/BasinOcean LinerNaval CampaignRailway. Mahogany campaign style folding basin washstand with stainless steel detachable sink, with two soap/shaving trays. Underneath has a galvanised waste water storage container and galvanised fill up can. The container and the can do have a date of 1940 on. But i do believe these are probably later additions as the mahogany cabinet with brass fittings is around c1900. Quite a unique rare piece and as the photos show in very good used condition. Either way still a great and potentially useful washstand. The basin has some surface wear, light scratching, marking, polish residue, tarnishing, odd ding, dink.. All commensurate with age and use. The cabinet has some dulling and marking as shown. Nothing major, but noted and does not detract in any way. Preferred at YO16 7PT. Please message with postcode for a quote. ONLY ONE ABUMI NOT A PAIR. Made of iron and decorated with silver application and inlay this piece is truly unique. Collectors will be happy to see that this piece is signed. It is signed on the top section of the top support with several characters, see photos. The front of the abumi is decorated with a beautiful bird which is decorated in silver on the iron abumi. The bottom of the abumi shows some age rust which I left as found. The inside of the abumi is decorated with abalone or metallic type flakes. The piece measures approx 12 long x 9 1/2 high x 5 1/4 wide. Overall in nice condition but I do see that the small bar for the buckle is missing.
