Rare PAIR Antique French Empire Marble Glass Vases Early 1800s 11 Tall
Rare PAIR Antique French Empire Marble Glass Vases. Stunning very rare quality pair of antique French Empire swirl glass marble. Beautifully decorated Napoleonic Empire style gilt brass/bronze mounts. They are not signed. Condition is generally very good and remarkable considering their age and still together as a pair… There are some tiny pieces missing on the gilt mounts around the body with the mounts on one vase been re-attached at some point and is about a 1/4 shorter with a small slither of glass missing near the base as shown… Very hard to tell unless very closely scrutinised. All as shown and does not detract in anyway as the photos show. They have a great aged patina with some rubbing, marking, scratches etc loss of gilt…. All nothing major, but noted. The pair measure overall 11″tall (one measures 10.75″) and 7″ across with a base diameter of 3.25″ and a top rim diameter of 3.5. Please view all photos and zoom in on every part of every picture for true cosmetic condition. If you any need more photos please message.. This pair display extremely well. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE SHIWAN CHINESE HAND DECORATED STONEWARE CERAMIC FOO DOG (GUARDIAN LION) W/ VARIEGATED, SEMI- TRANSPARENT POWDER BLUE GLAZE & COBALT FLECKS. [This single antique foo dog was found alone in an estate & wasn’t paired w/another similar figure]. Early 20th century Chinese antique hand decorated ceramic Foo Dogs & figurative statuary. 6 34″ Height x 7″ Width x 3 12 Depth. Absolutely gorgeous and in very well-preserved overall antique condition. With very little noticeable surface damage to its highly detailed ceramic form and has perhaps only a missing flake on one of the raised ball beads found on the body. The rest of the early 20th century Chinese antique foo dog or guardian lion’s stoneware ceramic form, is without noticeable, depreciating flea-bites to any of its edges or fractures. Remarkably, the foo dog’s intricately fashioned mouth, with two rows of sharply pointed teeth, are fully exposed in the open mouth of the foo dog, as if poised in a prone, protective position, ready to strike at any possible intruder with its menacing teeth. The viscous, glossy, highly reflective glaze on the foo dog’s body is interrupted with episodes of matte sepia brown, burnt sienna and the deep charcoal glaze of the guardian foo dog’s four paws. The foo dog has unnatural, nearly demonic, supernatural figuration, that resembles the body of a small, muscular dragon. Incredible surfaces and complex, beautiful color make this early 20th century Chinese antique hand decorated foo dog or guardian lion, a truly memorable one, with exceptional glaze and sculptural, incredibly tactile figuration. Of course, in a perfect world (the one we don’t live in) there would not be one but two foo dogs, in the same nearly unscathed condition as this single, individual foo dog stoneware ceramic piece. But this single piece was found alone in the fine Boston, Massachusetts estate from where it was first discovered in a library and removed from the well-appointed home. What is outstanding and superlative about this particular Chinese stoneware foo dog, is the high level of detailed figuration present, which not to be outdone, is also decorated with a truly extraordinary semi-transparent or’runny’ viscous glaze, that seems to have been applied rapidly and which is allowed to run and pool somewhat around areas of the form, leaving certain areas with a highly reflective coating and other areas with nearly no glaze at all, remaining matte and with the same dry, super flat surfaces of the ceramic stoneware clay after is was kiln-fired in what was almost certainly, an early stone ceramic pottery oven. There’s no point-of-view, angle or nearly an area of the foo dog which doesn’t command your attention. The points of interest are therefore evenly dispersed over the entirety of its form and are democratically exercised, disallowing a less eventful and visually lazy episode to even occur. Extraordinary, highly detailed sculptural ability is on full display, with equally capable hand decoration with the most beautiful, thrilling resulting surfaces. Definitely, by any measure, not your average Chinese antique foo dog. Good to Very Good overall vintage condition. RARE Antique Early Edwardian C. 1910 Camel Cotton Woven Pleated Dress Size XS
RARE Antique Early Edwardian C. 1910 Camel Cotton Woven Pleated Dress Size XS. Just look at these early faux camel coloured buttons absolutely a rare find indeed. I have not seen many like it in my time. Decorated with beautiful envelope pleats. Originally bought in America. The dress would have been worn without a corset or belt, supposed to be worn a little loose. Perfect example of a dress that can be worn in the 21st century with no fuss! There is some fading to the armpits but can be redyed and touched up. This dress is around 110 years old, so some wear to take into consideration. Some rust marks scattered over garment. Most are on the skirt so will be covered by the pleats. A hole on the top half of the top (front). Fragile parts of the fabric have been covered with small pieces of netting on the inside to stop greater tears. Slight tear on one arm at the back. A couple of Moth nibbles here and there. This item is very old and has been used. The item “RARE Antique Early Edwardian C. 1910 Camel Cotton Woven Pleated Dress Size XS” is in sale since Friday, April 10, 2020. VERY RARE & QUITE EARLY A. PUGIN DESIGNED MINTON TILE. THIS IS A LOVELY QUITE RARE TILE MADE AT THE MINTON HOLLINS & Co FACTORY IN THE EARLY PART OF THE COMPANY’S OUT PUT (PROBABLY 1850’s/60’s – SEE CRISPNESS OF DESIGN AND THAT OF THE REVERSE LETTERING) AND WAS DESIGNED BY AGUSTUS WELBY NORTHMORE PUGIN. IT IS DEPICTED IN A FIVE COLOUR GLAZE WITH A STYLISED FLORAL DESIGN IN THE GOTHIC TASTE. ONE THING SHOULD BE MENTIONED IS ITS THICKNESS (A LITTLE OVER 1 [2.5cm]) WHICH I WOULD GUESS INDICATES IT IS A FLOOR TILE RATHER THAN A WALL VARIETY. THE REVERSE HAS THE MENTIONED’MINTON & Co PATENT 12 STOKE ON TRENT’ MARK – SEE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DETAILS. IT MEASURES 6 (15.25cm) Sq. APPROX; AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR A TILE OF ITS TYPE AND AGE, ALTHOUGH THERE ARE A COUPLE OF SMALL GLAZE DEEP NIBBLES TO ITS EDGES APART FROM THESE IT LOOKS TO BE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE – AGAIN SEE PHOTOGRAPHS AND DETAILS. THIS IS A LOVELY RARE EARLY MINTON TILE FROM AN ICONIC 19th. CENTURY DESIGNER MADE AT ONE OF THE GREAT BRITISH FACTORIES THAT’S IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND WITH A LOW START PRICE SHOULD GET CONSIDERABLE INTEREST FROM ALL COLLECTORS.
