These early (circa 1890) Mason Decoy Company (Detroit, Michigan) pronounced snakey head examples are extremely rare and highly sought after by Mason decoy collectors. Russ Goldberger and Allan Haids excellent reference, Mason Decoys A Complete Pictorial Guide show a similar example (redhead) on page 44. In 20 years of collecting, I’ve only had a few of these. They are extremely stylish and show the artistry of this early and most collectible decoy company. With exception of the white speculums, this examples paint is worn but original. It is of utmost importance to have the most original paint possible on any old decoy and this one has over 90%. The left eye is missing as is the neck filler. Additionally adding the the rarity is the fact that this example is a broadbill (greater scaup) as opposed to the more commonly found bluebill (lesser scaup). Very Rare Large Stained Glass Cartoon (watercolour) of Angel and Young Boy framed. Very Rare Large Stained Glass Cartoon (watercolour) of Angel and Young Boy painted in the early 1900’s by William Arthur Chase as one of the designs for a church in Bristol (paper work accompanies the painting). A Chase was a noted stained glass maker and oil painter. His portraits are particularly fine and one of his wife entitled’the Keynote’ is in the Tate Gallery – now Tate Britain. This is a very rare large stained glass cartoon of the early 1900’s in wooden and glass frame. Condition good, some minor foxing. Light reflections in glass only. Height: 52.5 inches. Presented for your consideration is this early sampler. The sampler is all hand embroidered and features several different small pictures around the outer edge. These pictures include a tree, animal-like figures and various designs. In the center is a quote about living life. The quote is somewhat hard to read due to flawed stitches in the making of the sampler. Roughly reads Remember thy creatou in the days of thy youth while the evil days come nor the years draw nigh when thour halt ray have no pleasure in them. ” Below the quote reads “Honour to your parents give us long as you on Earth do live. Mary Cleaveland made the sample in the 11 year. The sampler is framed in a thick wooden frame. This rare sampler would make a great addition to any sewing or embroidery collection! There are 2 holes in the sampler in the upper right corner and two runs are in the upper left corner. A run is also in the lower right corner. Some light to mild age wear is on the sampler and the frame. A chip is out of the bottom right corner of the back of the frame. Overall in VERY GOOD condition for its age. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details. Sampler alone measures 8 3/8″ wide by 11 5/8″ long. Entire piece measures 13 1/4″ wide and 16 5/8″ long. LOVELY and so very very rare. I’ve never seen this wonderful toile before! This lovely textile is French and dates from the early 1800’s. This textile was once a bed curtain and has the most wonderful scalloped top! Peeking under the scalloped edge you can see more of the wonderful toile!! This textile is backed in a finely woven linen and cotton blend and there is a light cotton batting between the layers. It’s hand quilted in a light , diamond pattern. This panel is hand stitched along the edges and the scalloped top section is trimmed with a homespun linen , all hand stitched. A STUNNING and rare toile! The tones have faded beautifully with time to a beautiful pink and rosy red tone This textile has a hem using red thread to shorten the panel, just under the scallop. These red threads can be removed easily. MEASUREMENTS : The wonderful antique toile measures : 20 inches wide by 107 inches long. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with storage dust. There ares some glorious hand stitched mends on this piece there is some light damage along the side edge The top of the panel has faded with time and just above the scallop the front fabric has little tears from sun damage. Please use the zoom feature to view condition closely Generally in lovely condition, however certainly not without signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful textiles. This is a genuine old minton majolica chinaman teapot, it measures about 13.5cm high, 18cm long. Probably dates from around 1870 or so, its impressed MINTONS on the base. This is an extremely rare old teapot, you will find lots of reproductions but this is guaranteed genuine. Please read condition report. Modelled as a Chinese actor in a turquoise floral robe holding a Noh mask from which the spout projects. His head the lid and the handle formed by his braided hair.
