Teak Hand Manu Fica/Hand of the Fig. The hand is a carved image of manu fica, the hand of the fig, used since ancient times by many Europeans to combat/ward off the evil eye. Overall in excellent condition with no visible issues, just some tarnishing to the silver base and nails. The wood portion appears to be hand carved teak and the metal base and finger nails appears to be sterling silver. The bottom is marked Gerson Bahia 925. RARE Africian Agba Stool Kingdom of Benin Edo Peoples of Nigeria early 20th Century beautifully Carved made from what looks like Teak wood. It measures 24″ long by 11″ wide by 19 tall. These stools were usually produced by carvers in Omada, the association of young men who served the Oba as palace pages and sword bearers and who carved in their spare time. The tops and legs tend to be intricately carved with scenes from Benin history, palace ceremonies and traditional Benin motifs. Two examples from the second half of the 19th century are in the Perls collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This top of this stool depicts a ceremony with Oba and two other dignitaries signing some inportant agreement or treaty and dates from the early to mid 20th Century. A Rare Africian tribal piece most of these are found in. In Good condition very sturdy. Will post world wide. Stylish and Stunning Stag Tall Chest of Six Drawers. This is a stunning six drawer chest in teak. This is part of one of the early ranges designed by John and Sylvia Reid. This has wonderfully styled solid Brass pull ring handles anhandles that very well with the smooth teak veneered drawers. This unit has nicely proportioned drawers with the more slender ones in the middle. The sleek unit is then set on top of sleek teak square legs. These drawers have very strong mid century design influences and a very modern minimalistic design which is very typical of John & Sylvia Reid. Very stylish retro item with very very high end build quality. The condition of these drawers is very good. They are overall for Condition 8.5 out of 10. Very clean top and front. No broken or loose parts and have been very well looked after. Drawers all run smoothly. They have also been refinished in a combination of oils and waxes to give a deep shine to the grain. Lovely item that would fit seamlessly into a ultra contemporary or vintage themed home. No major damage or defects. This item may be collected in person or by a courier of your choice.
