Rare early Steiff tipped mohair chimpanzee with button

Here’s a fairly rare, early Steiff chimpanzee – close relative to Jocko – made of long, brown-tipped white mohair. Chimp is all original with his underscored’ff’ earbutton c. 1928-34, and is woodwool-stuffed. He’s fully-jointed but sits with his legs folded. When fully extended he’s around 33 cms (13) long. Chimp has back-painted amber glass eyes, and some of the enamel has worn away over the years. There’s airbushed detailing to his felt face, while his felt hands have been darned in the past with wool – mostly his fingertips. One foot has a small hole and, although he has overall thinning to his fur, which has yellowed over time, Chimp is nevertheless a champion character. He wears a handknitted dicky bow with homemade felt fez, and travels with his monkey puzzle card salvaged from a penny toy. Thanks for looking at this wonderful old primate. Antique Steiff Mohair Teddy Bear. This sweet little German Steiff Teddy Bear is 5-way jointed and measures approximately 10 tall and is made from mohair. Unfortunately he doesn’t retain his Steiff button. He has boot button eyes, wool felt foot and paw pads and a non-working side squeaker. He is woodwool filled throughout. He has a front closing seam and he has wear to his pads, nose and ears. He has 3 repair patches that have been added to his back that has made him more sturdy (please see photos). He retains approximately 70% of his original mohair. He comes from a smoke free home. This little bear would make a super addition to any collection. Please take a look at my other listings!
