A RARE 19th CENTURY OLD ORIGINAL EARLY”CASH GROCERIES” SAND PAINT WOOD TRADE SIGN. A genuine original 1800s hanging groceries sign. This sign measures 47” x 18” x 1” and is double sided with each side reading different proprietors. The paint is early black sand paint with smooth silverish lettering having exceptional authentic age character. There is an old repair to a split along the length. Not too noticeable at all especially on the one side. The sign has the original early sign painters makers mark in the bottom middle of the one side. A very nice size for wall display. This item is completely made from scratch and pins moveable function is still very smooth when open and closed. This item is strong in form and shows a wonderful overall aged patina as shown in the photos provided.
