Early Antique Egg Carrier. Presented for your consideration is this early egg carrier or holder. The carrier is made of pewter and features ornately designed handles on the sides as well as the top of the carrier. Top of the carrier has two flaps which open to reveal the removable, two tier egg holder. An ornate leaf pattern is on each of the four sides of the removable carrier and there are a dozen slots for eggs. The carrier easily slides in and out of the holder. The front side of the carrier has a small bird engraved into the middle. This early and hard to find egg carrier would make a wonderful addition to any pewter or kitchen item collection! A fun item to store eggs in! There are two holes in the bottom of the carrier but could be soldered. Flaps are bent inward, but not drastically, and the insert shows some bending on both tiers. Bottom edge of the front and back appears to have been repaired at one point. Typical light wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the best details. Measures 11 1/2″ handle to handle, 5″ deep and 11″ tall (6″ tall excluding the top handle).
