Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a very unusual antique Pietra Dura hard stone inlaid on marble obelisk. This nice obelisk is made of black marble and features a panel with Pietra Dura hard stone inlay decoration with beautiful coloration in the stones. Measures 10 5/8″ high with the square base measuring 3 5/8″ in diameter. Weights 2.6 pounds. This gorgeous obelisk is in excellent Estate condition with only some small nicks in the marble as expected with items of this age. The flaws are minor no-harm nicks around the bottom edges otherwise the piece is in excellent Estate condition. The Pietra Dura is in excellent condition with no noted flaws. We actually have a matched pair of these lovely obelisk, however, this listing is for one only with the second one available at the same price if you wish to display as a pair. Please note that the second one is also in very good to excellent Estate condition similar in wear as the one listed above, however, the tower section of the obelisk is slightly loose and needs to be tightened which we will leave to the new owner. Rare Original Early 19th Century Roman Grand Tour Rosso Antico Marble Lion Bath

Century Roman Grand Tour Rosso Antico marble bath with Lion head detailing. This bath is stunning, I have never seen one of this size before, they are usually around 40% smaller, this must weigh 30kgs / 66lbs approximately. It has the Lions head to the front, rings either side, the marble is thick and with a beautifully veined patina. The marble on this is very thick and as mentioned it has a glorious vein, it looks to have a crack running all the way around, I dont think its ever broken because there are no signs of repair, it over 170 years old so we can forgive it some patina marks, most collector like to see some ware and damage, it helps to prove the age. Width:- 40.5cm. Depth:- 18.5cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Rare PAIR Antique French Empire Marble Glass Vases Early 1800s 11 Tall

Rare PAIR Antique French Empire Marble Glass Vases. Stunning very rare quality pair of antique French Empire swirl glass marble. Beautifully decorated Napoleonic Empire style gilt brass/bronze mounts. They are not signed. Condition is generally very good and remarkable considering their age and still together as a pair… There are some tiny pieces missing on the gilt mounts around the body with the mounts on one vase been re-attached at some point and is about a 1/4 shorter with a small slither of glass missing near the base as shown… Very hard to tell unless very closely scrutinised. All as shown and does not detract in anyway as the photos show. They have a great aged patina with some rubbing, marking, scratches etc loss of gilt…. All nothing major, but noted. The pair measure overall 11″tall (one measures 10.75″) and 7″ across with a base diameter of 3.25″ and a top rim diameter of 3.5. PAIR RARE LATE 18th-EARLY 19th C. PIETRA DURA HARD STONE / MARBLE CANDLE HOLDERS

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a very unusual pair of antique English Pietra Dura hard stone inlaid on marble candle holders. These unusual candle holders are made of black marble and feature the front panel with Pietra Dura hard stone decoration with beautiful coloration in the stones. Measure 10″ tall with the candle opening being 1″ in diameter and a base diameter of 4 square. Weight is 6.0 pounds. These gorgeous candlesticks have some minor nicks in the marble as expected with functional items of this age. The flaws are minor no-harm nicks around the bottom edge on corners and one candlestick has a small chip on the upper rim (see photos). The Pietra Dura inserts are in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. No other noted flaws. Felt cover on bases as found. This is certainly a UK piece made in Ashford Derbyshire during the 18/19th centuries. Similar pieces/styles in Chatsworth House, Derbyshire and go under the name Ashford Marble. Give away is the limestone coral inlay which is shown on the side of the piece – Italians so never had this sort of coral limestone. In Derbyshire it is very common and was turned into all sorts of architectural/monastic columns/items. The product is quite rare. Easy to check – Ashford marble is a natural bitumen filled marble (mined locally in Ashford under water) which takes a high polish when cut and burns when heated.
