In WONDERFUL restored condition. Repair to the left side of the handle. A terrific box in great restored condition. Its great age it in very good shape. The box is inlaid with boxwood to all outer edges. Central cartouche is solid. Along we think is the same for the keyhole. The keyhole escutcheon is not marked silver but we. It to be silver to match the handle. Is for c1838 attributed to Thomas Dicks It could be Thomas Daniell we are not 100% sure as the marks are not that clear. This is an excellent early American double silhouette/miniature frame. Made with veneered mahogany over pine this little frame has great patina. A skilled craftsman carefully lap jointed the corners and dovetailed each side into the middle support. Early wire hanger, rippled glass and hand chamfered backboards. Measures 6 x 9 1/8 with a 3 7/8 x 5 rabbet for each section. Beautiful little early American frame with great proportions. Please see my other listings for some great frames i have recently listed. You see more of these in single train (non-striking) format but the two train ones are rarer. A beautiful piece and very impressive you can get an idea of the size compared to some of my other clocks in the pictures. 14 round dial, the dome-topped case measuring 40 high by 18 maximum width. Actually more practical than a longcase clock in that it can be mounted according to ceiling height. Excellent quality case with flame mahogany figuring to the front. No name on the dial but falseplate stamped Finnemore, Birmingham which dates it to the first half of the 1800s. The movement is similar to typical 8-day longcase movements of the period but with different gearing because of the shorter weight-fall. The smaller line barrels can be seen in the pictures. Original steel hands in typical early 19. The clock has been serviced and is fully working. Complete with weights, pendulum, winder and trunk door key (working lock).
