EXTREMELY RARE, Particularly Old, Early American Antique New England LINSEY WOOLSEY QUILT. DESCRIPTION: This is a particularly early & incredibly rare linsey woolsey quilt. Nice bright colors and color choices. Very nice, early American colonial design. Body is mustard/light green strips, and 3-sided border, made to drape over sides of bed, has large diamonds. Very nice star, geometric, and sash pattern quilting as shown. ALL HAND STITCHED AND HAND SEWN. Linsey Woolsey is a strong, coarse fabric, common in the US during the colonial era and also among the lower classes in England for the past few hundred years. Known for its warmth and durability. Linsey Woolsey quilts typically have a shiny appearance at least on the top; this one is shiny on the top, while the backing fabric is a coarse material. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN EXTREMELY EARLY QUILT FROM THE DESIGN, PATTERN, STYLE, AND STITCHING CHARACTERISTICS, AND APPEARS TO BE FROM THE LATE 1700’s – EARLY 1800’s. THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST, EARLIEST QUILTS YOU WILL FIND. The back is in very good condition. Some piecing, appears original with early stitching, to make the most of the fabric available. Also on the front it appears that fabrics/colors, e. Were chosen based on what they had available, as you would expect on an early farm. Binding is original and generally in good condition, but separated from the quilt in places. Some age related damage in places, but pretty decent condition for its age. Some very early staining in one area. This is a great early quilt by itself. It is also a perfect candidate for a complete restoration or could be used in historic fabric classes or education. It could also be used for cut up for high quality quilt projects, or cut up to enable a number of collectors to have an example for framing. I have not laundered this and it should never be laundered in any way. Measures approximately 80″ x 92″. THIS IS A GREAT PIECE FOR SERIOUS QUILT COLLECTORS, ENTHUSIASTS, OR THOSE INTERESTED IN HISTORICAL FABRICS. Extremely Rare La 17th Early 18th Century Z Dutch Netherlands Marine Compass

Swimming in the right direction? Extremely Rare Late 17th Early 18th Century Dutch Netherlands Marine Compass!!!! I say amaZingly because it is one of the most advanced designs of compasses for its time that I have come across! The needle is half white steel and half blackened steel, the white portion points North perhaps since Europeans are generally speaking white at that time, while the South is blackened since the south is primarily inhabited by darker folks, regardless the two different colors make it much easier and thus faster to differentiate between North and South, and the shape of the needle makes it much easier to follow even by someone with poor eye sight, extremely intelligent. Most likely created for the Dutch East India or Dutch West India Company, which could not function with-out such devices, the GPS of its time. It is the only compass I have eVer seen with a Z for south (Zuiden), which clearly and definitively indicate the compass is Dutch. The measurements of the wooden case are approximately 10.2 cm x 9.35 cm x 3.55 cm (4″ x 3 10.8/16″ x 1 6.5/16). The brass ring surrounding the compass is approximately 8.75 cm (3 7/16) in diameter. On the brass portion, the decorations, lines, and arabic numerals were all hand engraved by one of the worlds unknown but best compass makers I have eVer encountered. I have seen a Dutch? Compass, I inserted a question mark because the South was an S and not a Z, and of what I deem of much lesser quality fetch a sum of approximately 55 thousand USDs! So price-wise this beauty is a gift! The wooden case box is partially cracked on both sides, the crystal glass has some scratches as can be observed on the upper right quadrant of the second image and the upper left quadrant of the 5th image, and some points of oxidation (darker colored areas), but remains a fully functional and beautiful compass worthy of any museum! A great addition to any museum quality marine or scientific collection! Definitely a gift for any high level intellectual mind! Please feel free to check out my other Museum Quality Collection. Very rare & early edition with ballads of Robin Hood. ROBIN HOOD’S GARLAND: being a complete History of all His merry eploits, and Valiant Fights, wich he, Little John and Will. Scarlet fought on divers Occasions… Printed for James Hodges, at the Looking -Glass, at London-Bridge – around 1740? Or earlier – 94 pages, title-page with two woodcut ills. Leather binding – 15 x 9 cm – this edition contains the early copy known of the song of ” Robin Hood and the Ranger”. First pages a bit frayed. Front cover loose, but can be easily fixed. Spine a bit damaged. Otherwise solid and in very acceptable antiquarian condition. Some handwriting of previous owner on back of frontcover. The garlands added nothing to the substance of the legend but ensured that it continued after the decline of the single broadside ballad…. MORE PICTURES AND INFORMATION CAN BE PROVIDED. Extremely Rare Wooden Early Antique Folk Art Doll 50cm/20 Inches As Found. Hard to find early wooden folk art doll, she dates from around 1820. She has such a lovely presence to her. Wooden head and shoulder plate carved from one piece of wood. Lovely long neck carved features with sweet smile and carved ears. Remnants of her original paint. She reminds me of an early type Izannah Walker doll. But she was made in the UK (probably Scotland) as I have had similar dolls before but they are so hard to find now. I hope someone can restore her legs and she would be really amazing. Dressed in very simple old cream dress with pink smock type top. Condition: Lower legs missing. Right hand one finger missing. Obvious wear to head and body. No re-paint I feel. Old Cracks and rubs to head. Please see pictures, as they give more details.
