Ancient Egyptian Oil Lamp. Presented for your consideration is this interesting ancient Egyptian oil lamp. The clay lamp features a raised stripe pattern around the top opening with an Egyptian symbol between the top and front openings. Bottom has a raised ring molded into the lamp to keep it slightly raised off of a flat surface. It is handmade and would have originally burned oil fat. This lamp dates to around the 1st century BC and is a very hard piece to find since not many have survived the test of time. A great piece of history that is truly special to hold or just to look at. This museum quality piece is guaranteed to be antique and authentic. Would make a great addition to any antiquities collection! Some general light wear from age. No cracks or chips. Rare early 20th century pine chest of 9 drawers. These were purpose made for use in a small countryside post office. The chest has 9 slender drawers all of the same depth. Each drawers has central dividers and cut away sides (see photos). Constructed from waxed and stained pine with simple turned pine drawer pulls. Original makers label to inside one drawer (see photo 4). The chest is an ideal size to suit all homes, and its slender style allows it fit the smallest alcove perfectly. This is an unusual chest and one that will enhance both retail and domestic environments. 106.5cm height x 71.5cm wide x 47.5cm deep. Images of cats seem to be rarer than those of dogs. This is especially true in early needlework. In this large piece of woolwork, the stitcher created a picture of her striped cat sitting on a red, bun-footed footstool. The green ground around the cat harmonizes well with the elaborate rope-like border stitched in shades of rust, brown, cream and gray. There are two large motifs in leaf shape in the right and left corners of the composition. The cat itself is stitched in finer wool yarn than the background and the border. Part of its face and chest were stitched in a silky-finished floss. The stitcher used a heavy silk floss for her name and date: H. This places this fabulous piece of needlework in the era prior to those that became popular after Victoria took the British throne. It is housed in its original wood and gesso painted frame with a gilded slip and old, bubbled glass. The condition of the woolwork is excellent. There are no holes or staining. The color retention is phenomenal given the age of this embroidery. This must have been a cherished family piece that was kept in a room with few windows that kept the wool from fading. It appears to have been backed with a board at some time that helped keep the needlework free of dust and insects. The attractive frame is in excellent condition as well. I have had it professionally restored to bring it back to its former glory. This is an extraordinary and striking piece of early needlework, and as such, deserves a special place in ones collection. It measures 21-1/2 inches wide and 20-1/2 inches high, including the frame. Personal and cashiers checks also accepted.
