Century Treen carved wood apple tea caddy with original key. This is a good example, very nicely carved, the silver plate lining is distressed as is the norm, very rare to find the period key. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY VINTAGE AME RI CAN FOLK/TRAMP ART HAND CARVED & HAND PAINTED WOODEN KINETIC FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE OF SUITED PATRICIAN GENTLEMAN, W/TOP HAT AND HIDDEN, HINGED ERECT PHALLUS UNDER OV E R C OAT. Early 20th century Ame ri can hand carved & hand painted wooden, sexualized figurative gag toys. 6″- 7″ overall Height (outstretched) and with hinged, weighted’male member’ exposed x 2″ Width x 1″ Depth. For sale is this killer, absolutely wonderful early 20th century Ame ri can vintage Folk art/Tramp art hand carved and hand painted kinetic wooden gag light sculpture of a patrician gentleman, wearing a tuxedo, high top hat and bow tie, properly dressed in a white shirt and sporting a chained eyepiece over one eye. He’s the apparent epitome of the upper crust, well-groomed and well behaved. But surprise, surprise, when the bottom two legs of this bespeckled industrialist or wealthy banking executive are pulled down, out’pops the weasel’ or in more sober and accurately descriptive terms, out comes his hinged white and red painted male phallus, reminding us how his naughty, real and hidden demeanor contradicts the pomp and circumstance of his gentlemanly attire. The male phallus is weighted on one end so that when the legs are pulled down and away from the base of the figure, the hinged phallus shockingly pops up and rudely greets the viewer with a somewhat abrupt, hardly anticipated stage appearance. With the bawdy humor of the early 20th century, it seems culturally grotesque and clearly not politically correct. It is regardless of contemporary cultural considerations, by any measure, terrific. BEAUTIFUL RARE EARLY VICTORIAN CARVED CHINESE FIGURAL PUZZLE BALL. This is an Extremely Rare Beautiful early Victorian Hand Carved Chinese Figural Puzzle Ball, this would have been crafted circa 1840 making over 180 years old, as you can see the detailing is breath taking, i will start at the bottom which has a wonderful carved stepped spread base with very pretty carved flowers and a carved petal edging, the pedestal stem has lovely carved detailing which takes you to this amazing opened pierced carved puzzle ball which appears to be at least 3 carved puzzle balls within each other, you then reach the top which appears to be a table top with the most beautiful carved detailing of three different scenes of chinese gentlemen sitting down poring and drinking tea, all within carved blossom and foliage, this is then finished with a beautiful flower to the centre, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, it has the most wonderful tactile feel, you dont want to put it down, this would have belonged to a Gentleman or Lady in the Victorian period , in a time when things were so very different. 7.5 cm height… Lovely condition, as you would expect with some loss to the top edging as shown, which may have been there for many a year. Perhaps one of the earliest Item I have ever acquired in my 30 years of collecting, is this very early mid 1700s +- gothic wiccan witch carved early oak witch figure. Combined patina, subject matter and its attire are just a few clues to its genuine period timeframe, appears in the form of a perhaps male witch sorta form, notice the cloak garment to go along with the pre colonial hat. The carved wood is very early oak with its early original patina, no signs of residue or clues suggesting it was part of something other than a hanging shelf. It is what it is, one of them items that we just don’t find anymore and a true one of a kind, view my several pics to assess. PS: Carving stands approx. We are pleased to be able to offer this. Stunning Extremely Rare Early Victorian Silver & faux TORTOISESHELL Carved Dogs Head Mounted Ladies Purse. I would estimate this rare purse dates to circa 1850 making it nearly 170 years old, this beautiful Victorian purse is crafted in faux Tortoiseshell with curved edges giving it a wonderful tactile feel, the colours are beautiful with rich deep oranges and browns creating such a superb effect, to the front it is mounted with the most beautiful yet unique very special carved dog head image, this is so very rare and has the most amazing detail, from the dogs very life like unusual eyes, his detailed nose and his very beautiful long hair, I would say this must be a female dog as the dog has a lovely bow to the top of her head, I have never seen a carved dog head like this ever, its so very rare, on the other side is a solid silver cartouche, the hinges work well and I believe are a white metal, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a wealthy Victorian Lady and been used on many an occasion, many years ago when things were so very different, this would have been a talking point as it is so unusual and rare, my photos really don’t do it justice, you will not find another like this on the market. Circa 1850, though maybe earlier. 7 cm by 5 cm. The condition for its age is lovely, just one small pin missing, there is no clasp for closing, though it appear there never was a clasp, there is just a little spring back when closed, that being said it doesnt detractat all from its rare beauty, just mentioned for accuracy.
