RARE Antique PA GERMAN Early 19th C TIN Punch Decorated SPICE BOX Folk Art- This is a beautifully crafted early tinware spice box- these early boxes are very hard to find. There are some very nice decorative elements such as the raised lines around the box, really nicely made loop pull and the handmade hinge attachments which attach the lid to the bottom of the box, as well as the wonderfully done punch decorated design on the lid of the box and the nicely done solder work. We have found very few similar to this one in over 30 years of collecting. It has excellent naturally darkened patina and is in good to very good antique condition- it shows the natural oxidation of tin, and the solder is is good condition. It is hard to find this type of untouched/uncleaned original aged surface patina. The spice box measures approximately 3.5 in height to to top of lid. It is approx 7″ wide and approx 4.75″ in depth. View my other auctions for additional fine period items. This will make a nice addition to your Antique Tinware or Decorative Accessories collection.. Antique Rare Late 18th Early 19th Century Irish Cut Lead Crystal Port Glasses
For your perusal I have listed a very rare. Period antique late 18th / early 19th century heavy diamond cut and faceted Irish lead crystal port glasses of which because of their style and the techniques used in their overall presentation most probably originate from the Tyrone glassworks from between c1790 – c1810. Sets like these are very, very rare to find today in this particular condition. The style of these port glasses is very reminiscent of the rarest piece of Irish lead crystal glass known today, that being the Tyrone? Chalice which is purported to have been produced between 1790 – 1800. As you can see via the pictures listed of this set each glass was hand worked in heavy lead content crystal glass, the ovoid bodies topped with a smooth rim were heavily cut with a diamond facet configuration almost likened to a hob nail effect pattern the underside of each bowl was triple stepped cut, down to a octagon cut stem flaring to an octagon cut and faceted foot of which is of the slight lemon squeezer variety with a slightly hollowed base only the outer edge of the underside of the foot being cut. Each of the glasses all have signs of slight inclusions either carbon deposits or tiny air bubbles internally. Each of the glasses weight and dimensions are. 1 332g by 108mm x 73mm. 2 348g by 111mm x 74mm. 3 354g by 110mm x 75mm. 4 362g by 108mm x 74mm. 5 372g by 113mm x 73mm. 6 377g by 112mm x 75mm. General Condition of this very old Set is excellent with only one small rim chip to one glass which does not affect the top of the rim surface, the extreme high points to the body diamond cutting on all glasses have received over the years small chipping, this is to be expected with this type of cutting. If any item has a obvious fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. I will also just say that recently I took some detailed pictures of the set to an international Antiques Fair, to get an appraisal from a reputable dealer of such early Irish crystal. But can be easily accessed to view by anyone, by just surfing the web for the Project Gutenberg – Old Irish Glass by Mrs Graydon Stannus and looking for plate number XLIV which is in the Mrs Halls Collection. Please be aware that if UK buyers pay by way of Personal Cheque, item or items will not be dispatched until cheque has cleared our account. RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE, SMALL, DIMINUTIVE 10 in HEIGHT, BURNT UMBER, BURNT SIENNA & SEPIA BROWN DIPPED over YELLOW OCHRE, HAND DECORATED, GLAZED OVOID STONEWARE CERAMIC HANDLED JUG. [Complex, variegated glaze color is achieved by dipping the yellow ochre glazed stoneware jug repeatedly in burnt umber, burnt sienna & sepia brown glaze, achieving the semi-transparent, layered colors we now see]. Early 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive ovoid shaped, hand decorated, handled stoneware ceramic jugs. 10″ Height x 6 1/2 ” Width x 4 ” base Width x 1″ Inner rim. X 1 5/8 Outer rim. Offered for your review and consideration is this subtle but still nonetheless very beautiful, hand decorated, early 19th century Ame ri can folk art, New England primitive, antique small, 10 in height, hand decorated ovoid stoneware handled ceramic jug. It features simply fantastic variegated brown, semi-transparent glaze in burnt umber, burnt sienna and sepia brown, hand dipped over an initial yellow ochre or putty white base glaze. The result is an incredible, layered symphony of overlapping color, resembling a work of fine art with layered color crepe paper. There’s only one slight, minor ceramic chip on the outside margin of the baseplate, where the sidewall meets the bottom. No attempt has been made to repair, conceal or otherwise minimize this honest and sole damage to the entire jug. The unglazed baseplate of the ovoid jug demonstrates its age and early, nearly 180 to 200 year old antique pedigree. A veritable, well-preserved gem from our collective New England primitive past. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Kitchen & Home\Dinnerware & Serveware\Jugs & Pitchers”. No reproduction without prior written consent. We’ll be sending out sale notices and special deals to our’Favorites’ customers. Museum quality large French Limoges kiln-fired enamel casket, 5 large panels both convex and shaped in copper. Definitely done in the grisaille manner of the Renaissance French enamelists, 1500s, 1600s like Jules Laudin. Jean le Court, Pierre Courteys, but I believe this rare item is from first half of 1800s. Very heavy, the framework is in bronze. Very much a Renaissance look throughout. I have in mind the story played out on top and front figural panels might be that of Charlemagne. Cape, blue royal sash, white hair and big white horse, the figure in dominance does seem to be him, or his story. Lots of photos, linger over them to enjoy the exquisite details. Kiln-fired enamels are truly the most arduous works of art – spectacular work of a great Master, but I have not yet found a signature. I’ve done kiln-fired enamel, and for one to create something like this, an entire lifetime of apprenticeship to a Master, then becoming a Master is in evidence. Large at 9 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ at largest measurement of frame, each panel, were it removed and framed, would sell high and probably bring more than we’re asking for this truly incredible find. I have never seen one as beautifully crafted and in such a large size. The interior is lined, or perhaps relined in 1800s, a crimson silk nap velvet fabric and is complete. The working lock is slightly finicky, loose, but it is intact and with the original key – also quite amazing. Look at the Renaissance enamels of the men mentioned to see what I mean about the manner and quality of the work. I’ve included a sculpture of Charlemagne just for your comparison. It might be a while before I’m in the Louvre again. Yes, I did find this one in France, of course. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. To have a casket this large and with 5 richly worked plaque of copper, kiln-fired enamel is remarkable. That there is so little imperfection is that and more. I have put an “x” at the point of flaw, upper right or back right of lid, where the bronze has sustained a small dent. Under black light, and close inspection, I can see that what appears to be undamaged, does show a small area of enamel restoration in that spot. Otherwise, all panels or plaques remain excellent and free of chips, cracks, damage. The bronze framework may well have once been silver plated. I gave it a quick clean, and it appears it will brighten to high bronze color and finish if one wishes to have it, and will polish a bit more. I think its age and presentation is just truly fabulous, just as it is. RARE rare treat, this one! We’re easy to deal with. You are very important! Our fine inventory is very important.
