RARE EARLY ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON 3.8cm NAPKIN RING 1950s. A rare, early Robert’Mouseman’ Thompson napkin ring dating to the 1950s. These little napkin rings are few and far between. They measure just 3.8 cm, so much smaller than the later napkin rings that got bigger and bigger as the decades went on, eventually measuring 5 cm. I’ve taken a picture of this early napkin ring with a later example so the size can be compared, the vintage example is not included in the sale. Regarding condition, it has a split (see pictures) with a dark line running over it. Other than that, the condition is excellent. The mouse is particularly well carved with no damage, the colour is beautiful, and it has wonderful patina. Finding any early, rare Mouseman piece under 200 pounds is practically impossible, so it’s great to be able to bring something like this to the market which has age and rarity. It is also still very useable today.

Rare Early Mid Century Converted Medical Health Lamp By Barber 1950’s. Things dont get any more mid-century modern than this fantastic and rare converted Barber medical health lamp. The design is fantastic, real atomic age. It was made by the British company Barber. Barber was based out of Bournville near Birmingham and they were known for the very highest quality medical health lamps from the last century. Many of their designs were only available on prescription which makes them much rarer than the Pifco or Philps lamps. To convert this to a more useful table lamp we removed the old infra-red element and fabricated a mount to accept a reproduction Bakelite style bulb holder. The internals were all rewired and because of the exceptional quality we were able to re-use the original switch. We added a generous 1.5 m period correct vintage braided cable and a UK 3 pin plug. The lamp is fully earthed and it has been PAT tested. To complete the lamp we have fitted a 95mm Edison incandescent globe bulb (included). When lit the filament is clearly visible and it reflects off the polished rear panel. Whats great about this item is that it has both front and back covers are included. These can be fitted when the lamp isnt in use by removing the bulb and it looks fantastic! Dont miss out on this lamp. Its the only Barber one with this atomic age design that I have ever seen. This item is in good vintage condition with just minor discolouration and pitting to the main dome front and rear. Stunning and Very Rare 1950s Light Elm Ercol Sideboard. Blue Label evident to inside right central cupboard door. Condition is very good, some signs of wear commensurate with age but overall a beautiful tone and glow. I have tried to list all imperfections below, but please use photographs for additional information. There is a faint ring mark and one area of slight darkening to the top – likely to be resolvable with a sand if desired but we have not done this as dont feel it is necessary. There is one scratch in the wood to top right inset panel of right central cupboard door. There is a small, slightly darker line along the front lower right central door and frame, again would likely lift with a sand but not done as not felt needed for aesthetics. There is minor damage to both handles on top left hand drawer- I have actually had to look hard to see which drawer in order to photograph this, so it isnt something I notice standing back. The top 2 drawers have been felted at some stage, unsure if original. One has had felt removed. This could easily be remedied if desired. There are signs of use to the internal wood in cupboards and drawers, if seeking a perfect look then again could have a light sand. I must stress that this is a mid- century original piece and as such is not in perfect like new condition, but rather has a beautiful glow only found in older items and the solid elm top and? Beech/ elm frame and body are truly beautiful to behold. It is sympathetically restored with a very light, ultra low grit sand and wax polish, ready to be used and look stunning in any setting.
