Tiny very rare mohair treff steiff in very good overall shape 1 hole on left side above back leg. Shows minimal age and wear as noted in all pictures. A bit of darkening near leg tips and mohair loss there too. Cutest face even though some stitching missing! Only 3.75 tall! Jointed head great for posing this cutie just right! Very Rare Antique Toy P. F. Volland Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls Circa Early 1920’s

VOLLAND – RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY DOLLS, CIRCA 1920 – 1926 (VERY RARE). Wonderful and so Very Hard to find! Here we have both Raggedy Ann and her Brother Raggedy Andy. Both are very early versions, produced by the P. They are in exceptional condition, both with whimsical smiles. Striped red and white sock legs. And wearing their original clothes. Raggedy Ann still has the blush on her cheeks, and a cardboard heart (found only in the early Raggedy Ann dolls). Raggedy Ann measures about 15″ tall, and Andy is about 16″ tall. While researching the twosome, I found this lovely HISTORY OF RAGGEDY ANNE online. Raggedy Ann was created by the talented author and illustrator Johnny Gruelle. She began as a family rag; an old toy, faded and worn, tossed into an attic. And there, the legend goes, a little girl named Marcella found her one wet and rainy day. Her father Johnny Gruelle, saw infinite possibilities in that old plaything, so he repaired her and gave her a name. With her shoe-button eyes and winsome smile, Raggedy Ann soon became the beloved playmate of Gruelle’s young daughter, Marcella. When Marcella Gruelle fell ill and died in her early teens, Johnny was devastated. But knowing how much his daughter had adored Raggedy Ann, he began writing the stories that were eventually published. Gruelle soon gave Raggedy Ann a brother named Andy, and through the years the two floppy rag dolls acquired many other wonderful story book friends – all inhabitants of a very special world, where dolls come alive and enjoy magical adventures when no mortals are present. Very Rare Early 19th C Gilt Brass Japanese Bracket Or Table Clock Makura Dokei

A very fine and rare early 19. Century gilt brass Japanese bracket / table clock or Makura Dokei in need of restoration. The plated lantern type spring driven movement with balance wheel and verge escapement, the balance with silk suspension. Originally with datework and dial with adjustable hour chapters. Gilt brass case/frame beautifully engraved with foliate sprays and devices. Beautifully turned frame pillars. Rosewood base with convex friese in which is the key drawer. The mechanism is complete but lacks the original dial and datewheels. The striking train is missing only the gathering pallet for the countwheel. A very fine and rare clock but in need of a little careful restoration. Please see images below. At the top of the images below I have included a short video to give you an idea of how the strike mechanism runs. Please allow the video to load before playing it through. In very good but incomplete condition and as seen. The whole clock retains its original gilding in exceptionally good condition. The movement is in very good condition but missing the dial, hand, date wheels and gathering. Pallet for the count wheel. The wheel trains run smoothly when pressure is applied and the escapoement operates and the clock strikes (see videos). The bell rings perfectly with a silvery tone. Overall height of clock to top of bell finial and including wooden base 11.2 cm (4 3/8). Overall height of clock to top of finial but excluding wooden base 9.8 cm (3 7/8). Top and bottom plates 8.7 cm x 5 cm (3 7/16 x 2). Height frame excluding finials 6.6 cm (2 5/8). Packed weight 1.26 kg. Size 30 X 23 X 14 cm. Very Early Antique Musical Snuff Box 2 Air C. 1820 Swiss Rare Painting Scene

This little Musical Box is one of the very early types, also used as a snuff box, from about 1820. No makers name, signs or tune names! This musical snuff box would have been carried around in the gentlemans pocket and used as form of portable entertainment! What makes this a little different is the hand painted picture in the lid, decorated with a gold border and gold frame, silver tab and hinge and a tortoiseshell case. One of the main characteristics of this being an early movement is the segmented comb, it is split in to sections rather than one long piece of steel as found on later musical boxes. It also has the teeth going from treble to bass (left to right) rather than bass to treble and the governor top is vertical rather than at an angle, two signs of it being a very early piece. Another is the detail in the music, earlier boxes have much more elaborate arrangements and a gentler tone. Please watch the videos to enjoy this almost 200 year old musical antique!
