Beautiful and very to rare to find antique Meissen coffee or teapot dating to 1740. Wonderful piece with hand painted port scenes all around body and cover. Trimmed in pretty yellow gold. Fancy modelled spout and handle. Measures 8.5 inches high x 7 inches wide from spout to handle. First quality blue crossed swords mark on bottom. Only see minor use and wear loss on the pot and lid flower petals have chips & missing green stem. Incredible to find a Meissen Coffee or teapot pot from early 18th century and then in this great condition is just unbelievable. It’s almost 300 years old. Add To Saved Sellers. Very Rare Early Viking Anglo Dane Broad Battle Axe – Type M 2 Conserved – EF. Hilt to mid blade 19.2 cm: toe to heel blade 26.3 cm: weight 993 grams. Most axes, both in period illustrations and exact artefact, that fall under the description of Danish axe possess type L or type M heads according to Petersens axe typology: Both types consist of a wide, thin blade, with pronounced horns at both the toe and heel of the blade bit: Cutting surfaces vary, but they are generally between 20 and 30 cm [this example falls straight in the middle]. The blade itself is reasonable light and forged thin, making it a superb cutting form: many of these types of axes were constructed with a reinforced blade, typically of a higher carbon steel to facilitate a harder and sharper edge: The rear of the axe at the shaft has a rectangular hammer striking surface, which would allow a devastating shield-wall or armour blow. Extremely Fine Display Grade. The axe has been painstakingly conserved to eliminate oxide deposition: it has then been treated with a museum grade micro-wax to eliminate further oxide development. The axe was recovered in the East Anglia Fens 2007 [northern Cambridgeshire]: The axe was deposited in peat rich alluvium deposits within a drainage section where, the banks had eroded and slumped. VOLLAND – RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY DOLLS, CIRCA 1920 – 1926 (VERY RARE). Wonderful and so Very Hard to find! Here we have both Raggedy Ann and her Brother Raggedy Andy. Both are very early versions, produced by the P. They are in exceptional condition, both with whimsical smiles. Striped red and white sock legs. And wearing their original clothes. Raggedy Ann still has the blush on her cheeks, and a cardboard heart (found only in the early Raggedy Ann dolls). Raggedy Ann measures about 15″ tall, and Andy is about 16″ tall. While researching the twosome, I found this lovely HISTORY OF RAGGEDY ANNE online. Raggedy Ann was created by the talented author and illustrator Johnny Gruelle. She began as a family rag; an old toy, faded and worn, tossed into an attic. And there, the legend goes, a little girl named Marcella found her one wet and rainy day. Her father Johnny Gruelle, saw infinite possibilities in that old plaything, so he repaired her and gave her a name. With her shoe-button eyes and winsome smile, Raggedy Ann soon became the beloved playmate of Gruelle’s young daughter, Marcella. When Marcella Gruelle fell ill and died in her early teens, Johnny was devastated. But knowing how much his daughter had adored Raggedy Ann, he began writing the stories that were eventually published. Gruelle soon gave Raggedy Ann a brother named Andy, and through the years the two floppy rag dolls acquired many other wonderful story book friends – all inhabitants of a very special world, where dolls come alive and enjoy magical adventures when no mortals are present. Once hard stuffed he is a bit mushy overall now. When you push his tummy you can feel excelsior and squeaker? But no longer works. English bone china teapot of rococo form with bird head spout, milk jug, lidded sugar bowl, 5 cups with five saucers all decorated with white ground & multi coloured flowers with heavy scrolled gilding. Pattern no 1180 but not marked. Condition is good with some wear to the gilding a crack to the lid of the sugar bowl and a chip to the beck on the teapot. Some wear to the center of each saucer. Cups 6.6 cm tall x 8.7 cm diameter rim. Saucers 15 cm diameter. Milk jug 11.5 cm tall x 13.5 cm handle to spout. Lidded teapot 21.5 cm tall x 27 cm handle to spout. For sale is a most beautiful and rare French Automaton Clock that I have had in my collection for quite some time. It is one of my favorite items. This is a beautiful clock in completely original condition. It is a silk thread 8 day movement which keeps excellent time. The face of this clock is in remarkable condition, no signs of rubbing or wear. The hands are original. The basin where the glass rod spins to simulate water coming from a lions head, could use a cleaning to brighten the gilding as would the feet and Roman urn on top. The automaton runs well but I think it would benefit from a total service to make it run down to the end of the spring. It should run for a couple of hours, but this gets sluggish after a 1 hour run. The front of this clock is really beautiful with Bah Relief foliates, very well executed and finely detailed. The clock measures 15 inches tall, 7.5 wide and 5 inches deep. The clock comes with 2 period keys, one for the clock and one for the automaton. It chimes on a very sonorous bell at the hour and half hour. Thank you for taking the time to view my sale.
