Up on offer here is this Superb and very rare early 1930s large industrial factory office desk lamp featuring a large ventilated heavy Opaline globe shade, and a rare three bulb lay out design. All original; Stunning period lamp.. “Please scroll down for details”. Large stool design base incorporating the large circular gallery with the original securing bolts. Built within the gallery is a very unusual central stanchion type three branch pillar structure, each branch with its original bronze E22 bayonet fit bulb holder. Very large heavy Opaline cased glass globe shade with Roman design sky light ventilation feature. Later fitted with a 1940s black Bakelite flat inline replacement ON /OFF switch. Later fitted with a 1940s MK Bakelite three round pin replacement plug with a cord grip. Recently professionally rewired with silk braided two core twist cable, tested, and in perfect working order. Wimbledon-Furniture is delighted to offer for sale this stunning and exceptionally rare pair of original hand carved in Black Forest wood very large Bear armchairs. A collectable and signature pair of art furniture armchairs. This pair are exceptional, they date to the early 20. Century circa 1920, they are hand carved from solid slabs of black forest wood timber. Black forest wood gets its name from the darkness of the timber, this is due to the trees being naturally grown very closely, they are very tall meaning no light reaches the timber giving it this wonderful colour. This pair came to me in need of some sympathetic conservation, they had been coated is some kind of thick sticky dark wax which hid the natural colour and timber patina, we have painstakingly removed this substance to reveal the natural colour of the wood and grain. We have then very lightly wax sealed and hand polished them from top to bottom, the finished result is pretty much the best looking pair of these chairs you will ever find. They have old repairs here and there, nothing you wouldnt expect from 100+ year old chairs that are this large and heavy. There are no losses or structural issues what so ever they are a very fine example. Seat height:- 43cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. Black Forest Carving History. In the 1800s the wood carving industry of Switzerland started in the town of Brienz. By the end of the 1800s it had become the driving force for this industry. Swiss wood carvers became world renown and featured at many international exhibitions. Here is a shortlist of the major exhibitions Black Forest Carvings were spotlighted. Great Exhibition, London (1851). Centennial Exhibition, Philadelphia (1876). Chicago Worlds Fair, Chicago (1893). Exposition Universelle, Paris (1900). In Europe Black Forest carvings (wares) became a symbol of luxury and wealth. The finest pieces of Black Forest carving was often found in Royal collection and elite collectors homes (usually Victorian world travellers). There was a high demand for these carving especially depicting American Wildlife. Here are some of the American animals that were highly sought after: Bears, Stags, Eagles, Boars and Dogs. In the last 15 years this genre has seen some major changes. Specialty auctions and dealers have been popping up world wide. Along with various books on the subject being published. The biggest misconception about Black Forest carvings is that they originated in Germany. However they are actually the creation of Swiss carvers. Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Quite a rare clock, similar in principle to an antique longcase clock but designed to attach to a wall. You see more of these in single train (non-striking) format but the two train ones are rarer. A beautiful piece and very impressive you can get an idea of the size compared to some of my other clocks in the pictures. 14 round dial, the dome-topped case measuring 40 high by 18 maximum width. Actually more practical than a longcase clock in that it can be mounted according to ceiling height. Excellent quality case with flame mahogany figuring to the front. No name on the dial but falseplate stamped Finnemore, Birmingham which dates it to the first half of the 1800s. The movement is similar to typical 8-day longcase movements of the period but with different gearing because of the shorter weight-fall. The smaller line barrels can be seen in the pictures. Original steel hands in typical early 19. The clock has been serviced and is fully working. Complete with weights, pendulum, winder and trunk door key (working lock). Very Good Antique Tavern Clock. Rare 2 Train/ Striking. Quite a rare clock, similar in principle to an antique longcase clock but designed to attach to a wall. You see more of these in single train (non-striking) format but the two train ones are rarer. A beautiful piece and very impressive you can get an idea of the size compared to some of my other clocks in the pictures. 14 round dial, the dome-topped case measuring 40 high by 18 maximum width. Actually more practical than a longcase clock in that it can be mounted according to ceiling height. Excellent quality case with flame mahogany figuring to the front. No name on the dial but falseplate stamped Finnemore, Birmingham which dates it to the first half of the 1800s. The movement is similar to typical 8-day longcase movements of the period but with different gearing because of the shorter weight-fall. The smaller line barrels can be seen in the pictures. Original steel hands in typical early 19. The clock has been serviced and is fully working. Complete with weights, pendulum, winder and trunk door key (working lock).
