EARLY RARE SOMERSET BRASS DIAL PINE LONGCASE CLOCK J BAND, BRIDGWATER c1760
LOVELY OLD ANTIQUE GEORGIAN BRASS DIAL LONGCASE CLOCK. JO Band of Bridgwater – 1760-79 (James Osmond Band). Early engraved brass dial 30 hour longcase clock. In a plain pine country case, lovely golden colour and patina – 81 high. Superb 11.5 square dial with fine spandrels, finely cut original hands, and large date wheel. All in exceptional condition and in good working order keeping excellent time. Chain driven movement striking the hours on a large bell. Ornate ringed pendulum bob. A very rare maker, I have never come across another Band clock. He was in partnership with a James Hine as braziers and ironmongers, in Bridgwater the business dissolving in 1772 when Hine moved to Exeter, and Band continued the business in Bridgwater. At the time Bridgwater was a major centre for brass, bronze and other metal foundries. However Band and Hine continued to advertise a wide range of goods after that date at their warehouse in North St Exeter, including church and other clocks. Excellent clock ready to put in your home. Or collection welcome from Taunton 5 mins from J25, M5. Any questions to Chris. More information on Priory Clocks website. 1811 Family Record Sampler. Presented for your consideration is this early sampler. The sampler is all hand embroidered and features a floral border around the outside edge as well as the bottom. Bottom edge reads Liberty Klingon Sampler 1811. On the bottom half of the sampler are several initials representing different family members. Top half of the sampler features the alphabet in upper and lower case lettering and numbers 1-14. The sampler is framed in a thick wooden frame. Attached to the back of the sampler is information about the family that the sampler is about. This information states that the initials on the front and back represent the following family members: Ann Boyd, William Klingon, Liberty Klingon, Mary Alice Boyer, Bette Champion, G. Tripp and Thelma Tripp + Eberly + Harris. The sampler came out of the Eberly estate in Jackson, Michigan. This rare sampler would make a great addition to any ancestry or embroidery collection! It looks like there are letters missing from the lower case alphabet. These appear to be the only stitches missing on the sampler. Light fading from age. Mild wear on the frame.
