One of the earliest and rarest of the Oswald Rolling Eye Clocks. Black Forest region carved wood clock. Prewar late 1920s early 1930s. One eye is the hours and one the minutes. This gives the fun effect of looking right, then cross eyed, then wall eyed, the left as the eyes turn at different speeds. About 3.5 inches tall. Fine example of the early carved wood before they moved to composition. This is a very early (pre 1890’s) hand pressed bisque socket head French doll by Jumeau. She has her original set brown glass eyes and a lightly painted shaded closed mouth. She’s marked on the back of her head: 6. These early Jumeau dolls were marked only with a size number and they did not have the wide cheeks of the better known later Jumeau face. This doll has a professionally repaired forehead. It does not show on the surface. She came to me already repaired and I’m not sure what has been done but looking inside the head it looks like an upside down “V” shaped repair. I put a light in the head (photo #9) but the forehead has been air-brushed and doesn’t show much. Her eyebrows may have been touched-up but I believe the rest of her beautiful face is factory original. The area seen on the right side of her head (photo #8) is not a crack but appears to be an uneven paint layer. She’s on a straight wrist rare eight ball body that’s in great original condition and is well strung. This is a very old doll so there is some expected wear on the body paint. She came to me with no clothing. Her clothes have been entirely made from Victorian childrens clothing. She wears a very old hand made mohair wig. It is somewhat worn out but it’s what she had and may be original. Besides, I like the way it looks on her! It’s only pinned to the pate so it’s easily changed. The added head band is lightly sewn to the wig to cover the obvious hand sewn part of the wig. It’s easy enough to remove. This is an exceptionally beautiful doll, there are not many of these left in the world. The doll stand is not included. Thank you for looking at my sale. Antique Vintage Early 1900s, STEIFF dachshund RARE. Fabulous velveteen Steiff dachshund on blue wooden wheels with original button in ear. His blue eccentric wheels have some paint loss. The dachshund bobs up and down quite well when pulled. My dog is made between 1930 -33 and was made in different sizes. This stated by the Steiff company. According to the mark above, it was used 1925 – 1934/35, ie before the war. Very good antique condition: the color of the velveteen is very good and clean. One eye is missing, the other is the original eye. 24 cm long and 16 cm high. This beloved dog came as new to the family and has been with us for 5 generations. A fantastic piece for your collection – early Steiff lovers, take note! The item “Antique Vintage Early 1900s, STEIFF dachshund RARE” is in sale since Sunday, August 18, 2019. Rare and very beautiful ovoid form 2 gallon salt glazed jug with a stunning floral slip decoration that was hand-painted. In near perfect condition, with no cracks, hairlines, and only one very tiny thin chip on the rim and another on the underside edge (see pics). Stunning and very hard to find; the floral slip in blue is beautiful. The hand-painted method of slip application and the ovoid form, with no signature, and the wonderful early deep and dark patina all add up to this being made around and in the 1820s. Please also note what are brown spots under the glaze are just that, and are known as flashings, and came from other pots stacked in the kiln above it because of flashing during the firing process, either from pots stacked above this one or from the top of the kiln itself. These are amazing and add to the charm and character of the jug. Could this be a Southern piece? Hard to tell definitively, but a wonderful jug. 14.5 inches tall. About 10.5 inches in diameter. Opening on top is about 1 1/8 inches diameter. Weight is about 8 pounds not counting packing materials. It’s heavy and large so I won’t be too far off. The item “Antique Rare Early 19th C. Ive not seen another like this & I cant find anything like it. Very interesting piece of early advertising in fabulous antique condition. Consists of a craved and paint decorated frame backed by a tin case where presumably a candle or gas light would back light the paper advertising in the frame. Bottom seems to have been removed as shown in photos, Im guessing to allow it to be used on an electric light. Measures about 17.25 tall, 14.75 wide and roughly 7-8 deep. Comes with paper ad as found. An interesting, collectible and functional piece of early advertising. Please get them approved before purchasing. Any questions must be answered before the sale. I do my best to get back to everyone in a timely fashion. If you don’t hear a response within 48 hours please ask question again! I love old things so I’m always hunting through auctions, flea markets & yard sales for the ultimate score. I love bringing the old and unique back to market & I’m constantly adding inventory so please check back often. You never know what I’ll find next!
