HERE WE HAVE A TRULY WONDERFUL AND RARE EARLY VICTORIAN COPPER BATEAU BATH FOR SALE. THIS IS AN EARLY VICTORIAN EXAMPLE AND COMES ON AN ORIGINAL SET OF WHEELS WHICH WOULD PROBABLY SUGGEST THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY USED IN A HOSPITAL OR SOMEWHERE THAT REQUIRED IT TO BE MOVED ON OCCASION. THIS BATH WAS BOUGHT IN THE UNITED STATES BUT IS MORE THAN LIKELY TO HAVE ORIGINATED IN FRANCE IN OUR OPINION. THE BATH IS IN ORIGINAL ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH A “DOLPHIN” TAP TO THE REAR CORNER. THE BATH OOZES CHARM WITH AN AMAZING PATINA AND EARLY CONSTRUCTION METHODS SHOWING SUCH AS RIVETS ETC. THE TAP (AS YOU WILL SEE FROM THE PHOTOS) IS TRULY A THING OF BEAUTY AND THIS WOULD SUGGEST THAT THIS BATH IS UNDOUBTEDLY FROM A VERY HIGH LEVEL MANUFACTURERS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN A REAL ROLLS ROYCE PIECE IN ITS HEYDAY. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CHECK IF THE BATH IS WATERTIGHT BUT APART FROM THE DAMAGE NEAR THE TOP OF THE BATH ALL THE SEAMS LOOK TO BE INTACT AND IN GOOD ORDER. FROM OUR RESEARCH WE WOULD SUGGEST THAT THIS BATH DATES FROM THE 1830s APPROXIMATELY. MEASURES :145cm long x 63cm wide at widest point x 32 cm wide at front x 85cm high at back x 78 cm high at front. The trolley with wheels measures 8cm high at back x 11cm high at front. Please see our other ads for more vintage and retro items and antiques. 1950s Harvey Probber model 1066 hoop back cane lounge chair. Harvey Probber was one of Americas most lauded 20. Equally at home in wood, metal and fabric he was also recognised for his range of cane furniture which set a new standard for beautifully crafted furniture that was considered both elegant and modern. The chairs are rare to find in their original form without repair as the cane detailing would often get damaged. This chair however is in its original condition and has been re-finished to a high standard whilst still maintaining marks of its history and patina. The seat was re-upholstered in velvet over 20 years ago but is in excellent condition having hardly been used and set aside in storage ever since. The model 1066 with its angular frame and the soft contour of its hooped back represents Harvey Probber at his best and still stands the test of time today. The chair shows a signature on the underneath of the frame. H x 33.46 in. W x 25.59 in. 65cm H x 85cm W x 65cm D. RARE Early 1600’s 17th C Engraving Page From Peter Paul Ruben’s Sales Book. This is Norb & Marie Novocin, we have been running Estate Auctions, Inc. For the last 18 years. Some interesting things have come up and we need to raise some additional funds. We are offering up some of our own personal belongings. Including this very rare piece. Depicting a series of heads, including Ruben’s wife in the center, the jewelry she is wearing is seen in several of Ruben’s completed works depicting her. Paulus Pontius became a master in the Antwerp guild at the age of twenty-four and was almost exclusively responsible for making engravings after the work. Keep scrolling there are 26 pictures and. More description beneath the photos below! Of Peter Paul Rubens. Initially trained as a painter, Pontius successfully transferred the nature of his paintings into engravings. He also made engravings after the work of Anthony van Dyck, Titian, and Velazquez in addition to producing portrait engravings. 8 1/4″ x 12″ for the actual sheet it is on. The overall “matted” or “French Framed” measures approx. The top layer is watermarked with the mark shown. The second sheet is from the mid 1700’s and has the inked French Frame drawn on it. It has a D&C Blauw watermark consistant to mid 18th Century. The third and bottom sheet is a course laid paper probably 19th century. Note that the Pontius engraving is attached to the sheet below lightly at the corners only, and should be removed only by an experienced conservator. Here is what the various experts had to say when we first acquired this, way back when. Anne-Marie Logan, an expert on Rubens, reviewed the detailed images at length and gave this response: What you have is a print by Paulus Pontius who engraved works after Rubens from the mid-1620s on. He died in 1658, or much after Rubens. Judging from the digital images it seems to be a real print rather than a reproduction. I have a photograph of the print in the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris which measures 316 x 222mm. Yours apparently is laid down on some later paper. The work is a page from Rubens’s so-called Drawing Book, a loose folio of some 20 individual pages with prints by Paulus Pontius based on Rubens prototypes, some drawings, some oil sketches. The prints are generally dated to the years shortly after Rubens’s death in 1640. ” She in turn contacted Hanne Kolind Poulson, curator and researcher at the Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen with a specialty in 17th century prints who said: “I think you are right in seeing the sheet in relation to (or belonging to) a drawing book after Rubens, more precisely the one mentioned in Hollstein (no 157). There, you will also find a list of literature to consult. She also contacted Martin Royalton-Kisch, Senior Curator of prints and drawings at the British Museum. He reviewed the images and said: It is probably from the drawing-book listed by C. Voorhelm Schneevoogt, Catalogue des estampes gravees d’apres P P Rubens, 1873, p. 65, but the descriptions are very vague (eg “Deux feuilles contenant plusieurs tÆtes”), even if slightly more precise that Hollstein’s. We have 12 prints from this series, which consists of 20 items, but not a complete set. And then there is this comment: Expert of Didier Bodart, Doctor in archeology and history of art, November 21, 2002 From as early as the 17th century, elements from a Rubens drawings book have been known M. Rooses, Loeuvre de P. Histoire et description de ses tableaux et de ses dessins, V, Antwerp, 1892, pp. Boolten, Method and Practice. Dutch and Flemish Drawings Books, Landau, 1985, pp. There is, first, a series of engravings by Paul Pontius, which were published untitled and undated, but which have an engraved frontispiece after Rubens, and are more or less contemporary with the artist. These comprise 20 metal engravings, featuring, in particular, several prints based on écorchés (anatomical studies), for which the original pen and ink drawings, formerly owned by the Duke of Devonshire at Chatsworth, were dispersed at Christies in London on 6th 7th July 1987, and can now be found in various collections, including the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. Facts about Estate Auctions Inc. And Your Quality Zone crew. We are a team of full & part time professionals. Headed by our founders Norb & Marie Novocin. ROCKAWAY ANTIQUE STEEL ROLLERSKATES Speed Skates Foot Cycle Rare Early 1900s
Rockaway Foot Cycles / Antique Roller Skates by Rockaway Coaster Co. Unsure the date on the age of these, as they are extremely rare & hard to find any information about whatsoever. We found two magazines which mention the skates or the company. McClure’s Magazine Vol. 32’XXXII’ issued Nov. 1908 (advertisement shown in pictures). Toys & Novelties, Vol. 9 issued June, 1913. This magazine states that the Rockaway Coaster Co. No longer exists under that name & instead just go by’Rockaway’ which leads us to believe this pair of skates was produced before that date. These are the only pair of these skates you will find anywhere. The skates are still in great condition, of course there is age to the item, however nothing seems flawed. All 4 wheels spin freely, and the pieces seem put together very well. Very sturdy item, seems as if you could strap them on and take off skating. The last picture shows a small split in one of the spokes, though the wheel is still sturdy, and those pieces seem as if they’d be impossible to separate. The integrity of the wheel is not lost whatsoever. Steel frame, semi-steel wheels 4.5, roller bearings, adjustable front foot plate. 21″ x 3.75″ x 4.5 tall (each skate). Each skate weighs 3.5lbs.
