Rare Antique Georgian early 18th Century Silver and tortoiseshell Snuff Box
Rare Antique Georgian early 18th Century Snuff Box. A fine example of an early silver, tortoiseshell and mother of Pearl. Extremely hard to find an example like this one. Very well-crafted box with silver mounted frame. The tortoiseshell has a great colour, typically of this period. As a bonus there are no engraved initials. The lid hinge works perfectly. For such an early example its in nice condition. Please study the photographs carefully for the condition. Any questions please ask me, and I will try my best to answer them. Antique Early 19th Century Beatrice D'Este Oil Portrait Rare Family Crescent
Original circa 1800’s, Baked Ceramic, with a very highly detailed Oil painting of Beatrice D’Este. At this time the artist is unknown. Backside of ceramic has original lines from the antique firing process used to form the one piece mold. This piece is one solid baked mold, with the family crest built in. The painting itself is highly detailed, and does have some crazing. There are a couple of chips that could use repair. The piece is approx. 15.25″ tall, and 9.25″ wide. It has the original hardware hanger. This is a must have for any collector. This beautiful painting was found some years back at an estate sale in Virginia. We can’t remember much about the elderly woman who lived there, but that she was French, and moved to the US in the 1940’s after WW2. Please see all pictures, any questions feel free to ask. Victorian Art Glass Enameled Vase – Webb Moser Mount Washington. This is an absolutely beautiful vase. It has all over enamel flowers, more enamel decoration inside the ruffles of the top rim, and applied handles. The color fades from a dark coral color at the base to almost custard colored at the top. There is some damage on the vase though – one handle has a fairly large sized piece broken off. I included a photo of it. It’s actually not very noticeable since the handle itself is still completely there – the damage part is a decorative piece of glass right under the handle. There is also a very very small chip on the top rim on the outside of one ruffle. It’s barely visible.. I almost missed it when I was checking for damage. The vase measures 8 tall and is not marked that I can find. Photos 30.01-30.05. Any item can be picked up in person in Spring City, TN at our shop. Spring City, TN 37381. Very Early Ross London Petzval 320mm f4.5 Portrait Antique Brass Lens c1851 RARE
Very Early Ross London Petzval Portrait lens with a cemented achromat lens at the front and two air spaced lenses (flint+crown) at the rear. 4355 (very early Circa 1851/52). Focal length: 320mmApprox. Speed: f4.5 approx. Ross lenses are synonymous for their quality and the early portrait petzval lenses were amongst the very best lenses for their time. In fact Dallmeyer worked for Ross for some time before setting up his own business in c1860. Probably made/intended for 6×4″(cabinet) format although covers very well on my whole plate(6.5″x8.5 format) camera. May also cover 10×8 especially at portrait distance(not tested). The outside of the brass lens barrel shows much patina and wear/scratches commensurate with age. There are some dings/dents to the hood. The barrel has been cut/modified possibly by W. Optically the lens is in good condition especially when considering it’s age. Clean / clear to look though. On closer inspection there is some small edge separation on front lens. Also a few quite deep scratches/scuffs marks on rear glass. There are also some small dust / cleaning marks / small scratches and some micro bubbles all normal for an antique lens of this age and nothing to affect performance. The rack&pinion is not working smoothly! It appears to slip/get stuck mostly in one direction, although if helped by hand it can be made to work somewhat but it’s really not so important as usually the camera should be used to focus. There is a w aterhouse stop slot that has been made later but no stops included! All lens elements & hood can be unscrewed. Height: 6.7 inches including hood. Glass diameter: 3.25 inches. Rear screw thread diameter: 4.2 inches. Lens comes with front cap(poor condition/falling apart). PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO FLANGE WITH THIS LENS! THESE EARLY ROSS LENSES DO NOT COME ALONG OFTEN SO ACT QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS ONE! ALL SENSIBLE OFFERS CONSIDERED! Please look at all pictures and do not hesitate to ask any questions! PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ANTIQUE LENS OVER 100 YEARS OLD THEREFORE SHOWS WEAR AND TEAR AS EXPECTED FOR A LENS OF THIS AGE! Time wasters will be reported and blocked! Inspection and collection more than welcome from East London! Extremely Rare Early 1900s Korean Hymnal Korea. This booklet was belong to missionary by the name of Whittemore. He was in Korea from the late1800s until about 1920, according to his grandson, Arthur Jr. I have his letter envelope sent to Choson, pyungyang from US, but I cannot find it now. If I find it, I will list the stamped envelope in future. American Missionanry in Korea from Google. Presbyterian missionaries in Korea and the United States reacted to the so-called Korean Conspiracy Case in a variety of ways. Avison, the director of the Presbyterian Severance Hospital in Seoul, Samuel A. Moffett, a Presbyterian missionary in Pyongyang, and Norman C. Whittemore, a Presbyterian missionary in Seoncheon, North Pyong-an Province , met with Terauchi on 23 January 1912. They told him that it was inconceivable that the arrested Koreans, who were among the most respected people in Korean society, should have legitimately fallen under suspicion. But Terauchi refuted their position and told them that the fact that so many Korean Christians had been involved in the plot had surprised him. Extremely Hard to find item.
