Rare Early 17 Kestner Incised C Bisque Head German Antique Doll JDK Cassel

Original Antique Doll – Made in Germany. Bisque Socket Head / Composition Body / Plaster Pate – Stands Approx. 17″ Tall – Marked: “C” (only) Here is a very rare find, a precious Kestner-made “C doll. That is her only identifying mark, aside from her plaster pate. According to experts in the field, Kestner made this head mold with just the large incised “C” for a Cassel doll company in Sonneberg, Germany. This little cabinet girl is 17 of pure charm, and I fell in love with her at first sight! She has a such an innocent expression of wonder, with delicate and artistically executed facial painting. She has her original sparkling blue eyes, antique plaster pate, and a very long & silky honey-blond (replaced) human hair wig. She has pierced ears with tiny coral-color earrings, and a lovely diminutive mouth with all original teeth. Her beautiful antique German body has its all-original patina, with wear only to the paint on her fingers. I believe the body is original to this doll. She is wearing a stunning and elaborate antique outfit, with lovely lace, ribbon, and floral embellishments. Her antique undergarments are precious, and she is wearing very pretty crocheted off-white lace socks with tan leather shoes. Unsigned Doll: We confidently attribute this doll to J. Kestner as one of their early works. But, as with any attribution, what you are getting is a professional opinion. Thank you for your understanding. Beautiful antique condition — from a non-smoking environment. She has one tiny kiln crack behind her right ear (final photo), but no other issues noticed with the bisque after careful examination. Also, no facial blemishes or cheek rubs. IMPORTANT: Besides the noteworthy issues mentioned above, EXPECT any antique doll (bisque/composition/leather/china/wood) to ALSO have: (1) SIGNS OF AGE – for example: toned/crazed/chipped composition, minor wig pulls, loss of “hair” lashes on bisque heads (if they had them), not-so-tight stringing, etc. (2) MINOR CONSERVATION WORK by previous owners/collectors – for example: reset eyes in most cases! , repairs to wig, repairs to clothing, touch-ups on composition/finish/paint, etc. Any MAJOR issues — hairline crack, total repaint, etc. – would be itemized above, but these normal age/conservation details are not. Antique 14 early Jumeau hand pressed, closed mouth doll, rare 8 ball body

This is a very early (pre 1890’s) hand pressed bisque socket head French doll by Jumeau. She has her original set brown glass eyes and a lightly painted shaded closed mouth. She’s marked on the back of her head: 6. These early Jumeau dolls were marked only with a size number and they did not have the wide cheeks of the better known later Jumeau face. This doll has a professionally repaired forehead. It does not show on the surface. She came to me already repaired and I’m not sure what has been done but looking inside the head it looks like an upside down “V” shaped repair. I put a light in the head (photo #9) but the forehead has been air-brushed and doesn’t show much. Her eyebrows may have been touched-up but I believe the rest of her beautiful face is factory original. The area seen on the right side of her head (photo #8) is not a crack but appears to be an uneven paint layer. She’s on a straight wrist rare eight ball body that’s in great original condition and is well strung. This is a very old doll so there is some expected wear on the body paint. She came to me with no clothing. Her clothes have been entirely made from Victorian childrens clothing. She wears a very old hand made mohair wig. It is somewhat worn out but it’s what she had and may be original. Besides, I like the way it looks on her! It’s only pinned to the pate so it’s easily changed. The added head band is lightly sewn to the wig to cover the obvious hand sewn part of the wig. It’s easy enough to remove. This is an exceptionally beautiful doll, there are not many of these left in the world. The doll stand is not included. Thank you for looking at my sale. Rare Early Vintage Industrial Dugdills Machinist Work Lamp Light Antique

A fantastic early vintage industrial Dugdills work lamp. A wonderful & very rare model with a heavy cast iron base & hanging hook, articulated arm & white enamel shade. An exceptionally original example of a lamp which very rarely turns up for sale any more. Rewired in twisted black flex. 1920’s H 45 cm Wear commensurate with age, good overall, cosmetically unrestored. All joints are freely moving with the exception of the swivel joint midway up the arm which is very often seized on these earlier models (I’ve not tried to free it up & it may well release with some encouragement). Height measurement above is taken with the lamp as per the main image. All electrical items should be checked and / or installed by a qualified electrician prior to use. Structurally, the chair is sound and clean: all joints are tight, the beech frame has vintage wear but is in good condition; the springing is excellent and the chair is form and comfortable. The mint green and raspberry boucle upholstery is original but in poor condition; I’ve left it in this state because a. It’s historically significant, a good example of 1950s colour and fabric, b. I rather like it as it is. The armrest inserts have been covered in a later matching Heals fabric for protection. The chair is stamped’Formell’ within the frame and the original’Duxello’ metal label is on the underside. A mid-century-modern classic, priced to reflect fabric condition. RARE EARLY 20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE’AUNT JEMIMA’ BLACK AME RIC ANA MONUMENTAL UPRIGHT CAST IRON DOORSTOP W/ORIGINAL. Late 19th-early 20th century figurative cast iron doorstops. 13″ Height x 8″ Width 3 ¼ Depth. Offered is this superb and one of the very best late 19th to early 20th century antique Ame ri can hand painted cast iron Aunt Jemima monumental doorstops at least I have ever seen. What makes it special is not only its very large, even monumental size at 13 inches in height, but the wonderful sculptural features that remain crisp and clear and not obscured by later enamel paint, which almost always buries the figurative details of the form in the viscous, thick enamel oil paint. This monumental doorstop now reads as pure Ame ri can folk art sculpture, with its original painted surfaces and remains unbastardized, untouched and undisturbed. That and that alone is enough to make this piece of turn-of- the-century Black Americana interesting enough, never mind the exemplary and extraordinary original painted surfaces. Without any demonstrable flea-bites to its edges, deep abrasions, dents or dings and really without any other kind of deformities that a drop or serious tumble might have caused. It’s nearly flawless and only shows the normal depreciating effects of time. It was discovered on the South Shore of Massachusetts and is estate-fresh and fresh to the marketplace, never having been seen outside of the home where it was found. Not only an extraordinary Ame ri can antique but an extraordinary Ame ri can cultural artifact. Very rare in this kind of well-preserved, untouched, unadulterated original condition. One killer antique painted Aunt Jemima cast iron doorstop. Good to Very Good overall antique condition. Antique Vintage Early 1900s, STEIFF dachshund RARE. Fabulous velveteen Steiff dachshund on blue wooden wheels with original button in ear. His blue eccentric wheels have some paint loss. The dachshund bobs up and down quite well when pulled. My dog is made between 1930 -33 and was made in different sizes. This stated by the Steiff company. According to the mark above, it was used 1925 – 1934/35, ie before the war. Very good antique condition: the color of the velveteen is very good and clean. One eye is missing, the other is the original eye. 24 cm long and 16 cm high. This beloved dog came as new to the family and has been with us for 5 generations. Quality & Early Fusee Convex Dial Clock. Rare 11in Version

Quality & Early Fusee Convex Dial Clock. Delightful and top quality fusee convex dial clock which signed on the dial’Brockbank & Atkins, London’ and numbered’2075′. This clock has the very rare smaller 11in dial, most of these are 12in so the smaller ones are much sort after. The case has damage to the rim and bottom. This clock will need significant restoration so please see all photos to see what is included and its condition. The dial has a great colour and condition perhaps the name and number on the dial could be touched in? This clock has beautifully shaped hands typical of an early clock of this nature. The bezel is nicely case and the hinge and glass are both good however there is no lock present. Both doors are present, the bottom door has one detached hinge (see photos). The movement and dial are original to each other, the movement does have nicely shaped plates but the crutch has had a repair. The pendulum is present but is coming apart but looks original. The case is made of oak with mahogany veneer and has retained its hanging hook (some veneer loss at the bottom). The movement is nice and clean and is ticking away well and the spring is good and fully wound, so this clock might run? I’m sure with a good clean and service that this clock would work well and is priced to allow for the restoration to case etc. This is a very hard to find small size convex dial clock by a top maker requiring a sympathetic restoration.
