An original early vintage enamel RSPCA dogs water bowl. A seldom seen & charming piece of history which would have been chained up outside a newsagents or shop for passing dogs to drink from, in pressed metal & blue & white enamel. Wear commensurate with age, the bowl has a very naive repair inside & is priced accordingly the hole which has been repaired is a fraction of the size of the repair so one would assume it was done with function in mind rather than asthetics! HELLO , THIS LISTING IS FOR A VERY RARE SET OF 2 LARGE EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ENAMEL BUTTONS IN LATER VICTORIAN LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE. THIS WONDERFUL AND RARE SET OF FRENCH BUTTONS ARE MADE TO PAY TRIBUTE TO MAIN CHARACTERS IN THE OPERA ” ROSINA “. ROSINA IS A 1782 COMIC OPERA BY WILLIAM SHIELD. THESE PORTAIT BUTTONS PORTRAY THE CHARACTERS ROSINA AND BELVILLE. SHE CUT OUT AND SAVED THEIR ORIGINAL CATALOG DESCRIPTION WHICH READS : PAIR FRENCH ENAMELED BUTTONS EARLY XIX CENTURY. OVAL SHAPE WITH PAINTED PORTRAIT INSCRIBED ” ROSINA AND BELVILLE “. THEY WERE LOT # 412. THEY ARE JUST A BIT OVER 2 INCHES HIGH X 1 1/ 2 INCH WIDE. THEY ARE IN EXCELLENT UNTOUCHED CONDITION. THEY HAVE THE CRAZING TO THE ENAMEL YOU WOULD EXPECT TO SEE ON BUTTONS MORE THAN 200 YEARS OLD. THERE ARE SOME CRIMPS TO THE BRASS FRAMES , BUT I THINK THIS HAPPEND WHEN THE FRAMES WERE MOLDED AROUND THE TIN BACKING , NOT DAMAGE. THEY COME HOUSED IN A LATER FRENCH VICTORIAN PERIOD LEATHER PRESENTATION CASE THAT MY GREAT AUNT HAD CUSTOM FITTED ESPECIALLY TO DISPLAY THESE BUTTONS. A WONDERFUL AND RARE PAIR OF MUSEUM QUALITY BUTTONS FOR AN ADVANCED COLLECTION. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING! A large early vintage enamel advertising sign for Hovis Bread. An exceptionally rare sign in a very eye catching & regal design, manufactured by The Falkirk Iron Company & featuring some fantastic colours and a great gloss. A wonderful sign, perfect for a kitchen cafe or restaurant! Early 20th century The sign measures around 137cm x 91cm. Wear commensurate with age, comparatively good overall, wear & a small amount of wear/loss to the bottom left corner.
