Rare Early 18th Century All Wood Foot Warmer W Unusual Side Door Opening & Pan
Early 18th century foot stove / foot warmer. Early example and rare to be made all of wood rather than the usual tin panels. I believe it to be made of cherry wood, and it is constructed with square nails. Unique and unusual to have a slide up lid opening on the side wall. Wonderful to have the original sheet iron liner pan still inside. The pan is even well made with a nice finger ring handle. The top of the warmer has a swing handle, and it is perforated on all sides with holes for decoration and also to let the heat out. It measures 6 5/8 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches. Excellent condition , all complete. Rare early and unusual example, perfect to add to any early primitive collection. Thick, sturdy and quite weighty. Similar example can be referenced in G Neumanns book Early American Antique Country Furnishings , pg 327. Unique Treasures From The U. &#######xA0; and Around The Globe! Rare Authentic Early 19th. Century Medical Usage Pandemic Plague Pan. Rare Authentic Early 19th century Medical Usage Brass Pandemic Plague Pan&#######xA0. We are offering a device known as a plague pan. &#######xA0;We’ve never had an authentic plague pan in the forty years we’ve been in business. Century, two handled&#######xA0;device was created originally for the usage in sick rooms. People thought impure air caused the disease and could be cleansed by smoke and heat. The holes in the plague pan allowed the coals and embers to breath. &#######xA0;The plant material (evergreen and herbs) would then ignite and thus the smoldering would occur. The attending medical aid would carry this smoky (believed to be) disinfectant into the sick&#######xA0;rooms. This plague pan has feet and two short arms, (see pictures) a feature that would never accommodate the purpose for warming the bed. &#######xA0;&#######xA0;Bed warming pans never had holes. Holes would have brought&#######xA0;unnecessary&#######xA0;smoke into the bed when heat was all that was desired. &#######xA0;Hot coals were placed in&#######xA0;bed warming pans, the lid (with no holes) closed and used just long enough to warm under the covers. The single long handle easily slid under the blankets. Many of the early “bed warming pans” were repurposed as plague pans. Holes were punched into the top (at a later date) to&#######xA0;release the smoke&#######xA0;and thus turning it into a plague pan. Notice the three circular “fenced” locations within this authentic plague pan. This was necessary to secure the embers. The plant or herbs to be ignited&#######xA0;were placed strategically&#######xA0;for maximum smoldering&#######xA0;time. This plague pan has a brass knob on one handle that when pushed opens the lid. Notice the raised beading around the holes; these holes were not punched in at a later date, these holes were created necessarily for this specific use. Height: 3 3/4″ Diameter: 10″. Handle to Handle: 20 3/4″ – 21″. Two repaired wooden feet on bottom: worn with dents in a&#######xA0;much used, &#######xA0;age-related condition. Please see all photos; they are, in fact, the best description of the condition for a complete explanation. &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0; &#######xA0;LOC. Rare, beautiful, early Indian silvered bronze Bale Krishna, 14 century
Rare, beautiful, early Indian silvered bronze Bale Krishna, 14 century Vijaya nagar period. Here is a small, but exquisite, silvered bronze, Bale Krishna. This bronze is a fine example of the direct connection and influence between the Chola Dynasty, mostly in south India, and the later, more central Indian, Vijayanagar Empire. The amount of detail, movement and expression packed into a rather small bronze, is quite amazing. There are very limited examples of silvered or gilded bronzes from India of this period. The Krishna is in a perfect condition. No dents or losses to the bronze. There are two minor casting errors to the lower part of the base. Weight 186 gr = 0 lb 6.6 oz. 4 cm = 1.6 inch. Height 9 cm = 3.5 inch. The item “Rare, beautiful, early Indian silvered bronze Bale Krishna, 14 century” is in sale since Friday, April 12, 2019.
