A Rare & Beautiful 80 Year Old Carved Two Drawer Cabinet. C1930 and Older

A Rare & Beautiful 80 Year Old Antique Carved two drawer continental cabinet. Made in Europe during the reign of King George V In around 1930 to a lovely standard. The plain top over two short drawers with beautiful brass pull handles over a pair of cupboard doors enclosing a shelf. The sides are wonderfully carved ecclesiastical style side panels. The piece appears to made from much older wood, perhaps even 18th century timber so likely remade from an older piece. All raised upon turned feet. Made to beautiful proportions it would grace any room. The wood has a wonderful glow and pleasing patina created over the last 80 years however the inside and back of the piece reveals much older timbers repurposed for this cabinet. An outstanding, characterful & rare early to mid 19th century pine one piece corner cabinet having two panelled doors both with working locks and keys, two fixed shelves in the top part and one fixed shelf in the bottom part, original hinges, original mouldings to the top, middle, bottom and both sides and original back panels with period steel banding. Dimensions: 102cm wide; 60cm deep;187cm high; 73.5cm from rear corner to front (along wall). In good strong condition, does have many marks and imperfections commensurate with age but these only add to its tremendous character. Made of oak with 15 filing sections, original drawers to 5 of them with original brass clipboard to each, pull out tray. Missing the remaining drawers and roller shutter. Grade I listed Medieval Manor House in the pretty village of Mersham in Kent. A fine and rare early 18th century walnut writing cabinet secretaire. Wonderful use of beautifully patinated burr and highly figured walnut on this very handsome cabinet. Having a moulded cornice over two raised and fielded panelled doors, framed by cross and feather-banding, with original working lock and key, which open to reveal an abundance of storage drawers and shelves within. To the back are 10 solid oak drawers, with original brass handles, fronted by 2 sliding shelves, which can be adjusted to suit size or completely removed. These are over a ledge with a further six larger drawers, also oak lined and having the most glorious burr-walnut fronts with feather banding and retaining the original brass handles. The secretaire drawer section fits the same key that fits the cabinet section, which pulls out and opens to reveal a quality fitted interior, with an arrangement of 5 figured walnut fronted drawers. With original brass handles, and are oak lined. With 10 pigeon holes above. The writing surface is a green, gold-tooled leather, in very good condition. This is over a chest of three long oak lined drawers. Having double half-rounded drawer dividers and matching feather banding to the drawers as above. Possibly would have originally had brass carrying handles to each side, top and bottom as there are marks to indicate this. A stunning beautifully crafted, high quality item, still very relevant for modern day use. Lovely, rich even colour and glowing warm patina. Standing on bracket feet, with later added metal castors. The top section can be removed from the base section. In excellent antique condition. Expected signs of age. Very solid sturdy and strong. The dimensions are taken at highest, widest and deepest points. Viewings are available at our showroom in Kent. Collection in person is very welcome, we are happy to help with loading.
