Rare antique Lenox CAC Ceramic Art Company porcelain mug early football or rugby
Posted by admin On October 1, 2023
ESTATE FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION. Rare antique circa 1890`s CAC Ceramic Art Company (pre- Lenox) porcelain mug with football or rugby scene. Looks like signed by artist Kemp? CAC was started in 1889 by Lenox and John Coxon. Lenox bought Coxon out in 1906 and the name was changed. CAC (ceramic art company)was founded in 1889 by Walter Scott Lenox and John Coxon. Lenox bought Coxon out in 1906 and name was changed to Lenox’s. From the start, it was organized as an art studio and not as a factory. It did not produce a full range of ceramic articles but rather one-of-a-kind artwares. The company at first had just eighteen employees. Lenox’s products were first displayed at The Smithsonian Institution in 1897. According to the famous book. By Shirley & Jerry Sprung, Walter Scott Lenox founded the Ceramic Art Company in Trenton, NJ in 1889, but Lenox assumed complete control around 1895. In 1906, the name was changed to Lenox China Company. The early pieces marked CAC for Ceramic Art Company are coveted by collectors. Offered here is a scarce circa 1890`s Porcelain mug with early football or rugby scene with early CAC mark. NO CHIPS CRACKS OR REPAIRS. PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES FOR CONDITION AND MEASUREMENTS AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. WHITE SPOTS FROM CAMERA FLASH NOT ON THE MUG. PAYMENTS EXPECT IN 4 DAYS. ITEMS I SELL DO HAVE WEAR EXPECTED WITH THEIR AGE… THANKS AND GOOD LUCK.
A Rare Original Late Victorian Early Edwardian Antique Corset With Suspenders
Posted by admin On September 30, 2023
A Rare Original Late Victorian Early Edwardian Antique Corset With Suspenders. A Rare Handmade Late Victorian / Early Edwardian Corset. Being handmade I estimate this Corset to be of the late Victorian to Early Edwardian Period (1895 to 1900) as it does not have the typical S Bend curved frontage of the Edwardian Period. Made of a grey striped cotton material with internal boning the corset unusually has 2 suspenders attached to the front. The front does up with rivet hooks and the back with the traditional lacing to tighten as required. The top is edged with lace all around to give a feminine effect. Being a handmade Corset it is part machine sewn and part naively handstitched. Whether this is from adjustment or historical repair is unknown. The frontage isn’t quite symmetrical again from the handmade origins. There are rust marks on it predominantly where the suspenders have been attached. Again these have rusted (not suprising given age and use) and the pale pink suspenders have lost some of their elasticity over time. The rivets do have some rust particularly the lower one. There are marks and stains to both the front and interior of the corset again part of its working history. There are some eyelets to the back but some are just hand sewn again whether due to being handmade or being lost over time I’m unsure. The back ties are a pink lace which I’m assuming is a replacement from the original ribbon. The lace edging has fraying to it. The interior has what looks to be the name’Crewdson’ on it. Whether the maker or owner of the corset I have been unable to ascertain through research. I haven’t attempted to clean the corset and it is in an “as is” condition showing its history and story. One for the historical corset collector rather than purist. Width Open – Approx 31. Height Approx – 14 1/2. Chest is Approx 32 and listed as a UK 10 to 12 but please do remember these corsets were made to shape and form the silhouette. Please look at all pictures carefully, zoom in etc as they form part of the listing.
Antique C1880 Red scent Perfume bottle Grand Tour Rare Painted Scene Example

Lovely antique French blue glass scent bottle with ormolu decoration, adorned with painted plaque. I believe would have been bought as a Grand Tour souvenir. Stunning quality item in excellent condition. 10.5 cm tall. IN VERY NICE CONDITION DESPITE ITS 142YEARS OF AGE & USE SHOWING very MINOR WEAR, BOTH The bottle and stopper ARE IN PERFECT UNDAMAGED CONDITION. PERFECT FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR. This would make a stunning present gift. THERE ARE SOME very LIGHT SCRATCHES TO THE GLASS BUT NO CRACKS or chips. Reassuring to also see slight imperfections in the glass which guarantees it is an early version. THE “FLIP TOP” MECHANISM IS IN FULL WORKING ORDER AS IS THE PERFECT RARE GLASS STOPPER. The polished Pontil mark at the base is a great way to tell it’s early age. I have approximately 300 antique perfume bottles which I have taken many years collecting. (see a few in picture 11). I have also included a picture of part of my 750 strong collection of Sampson Mordan in picture 12. Obviously these are not included in the price of this item, just for reference. If you want spotless then the high street is for you, but if you want a great antique that will appreciate in price with age then this is for you. You don’t get this by messing people about. Iam a trusted honest reliable EBAYer. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Please look at all my other great items I have for sale.
