In my opinion, these are manufactured in China in the late 1720s/early 1730s, copying the 1720s’chinoiserie’ style by C. Herold and the famous underglaze Augustus Rex monogram.

Up for sale is a rare antique early 19th century handmade pewter chalice made by James Dixon & Son. It’s made out of thick pewter into a gorgeous silhouette and has acquired a lovely patina from age. It is signed under the foot, in good antique condition, and measures 8 inches tall by 4 inches wide. There are a couple light dings on the side of the foot as shown in lat photo. Quality antique jug with registered diamond mark to base – the only reference I can find to this piece is a blue version held at the VA – nothing for sale elsewhere so a fair assumption it’s a scarce jug – some damage to one of the cherubs as pictured and could do with a clean otherwise a presentable piece – one for the collector!

It’s crafted out of thick steel, has good weight, and has acquired a lovely patina from age. It is a unique/rare form with a handmade wrought steel key that turns the threaded locking mechanism.
