Max and Norbert Neiger were two brothers living in Czechoslovakia who made wonderful jewellery with figural glass. Components in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, from 1905 to the 1930s. They were Czech citizens as were their ancestors but they also had German Nationality. The Neiger Brothers took advantage of the Egyptian Revival craze, beginning with the discovery of King Tut’s tomb. They further added more “exotic” lines, with Chinese and Indian motifs. They produced hypnotising brooches. Beautiful beaded necklaces and fascinating bracelets, all of the highest quality. Today, collectors have rediscovered Max and Norbert, and their tragic end has come back into the public eye. As buyers snap up their stunning wares. As the Germans advanced near Gablonz in 1939, the two Jewish brothers left their factory and escaped to Bohemia. Where they continued to produce jewellery in a scaled-down operation. Adorable old Antique Steiff teddy bear Rare lots of character just look at the face…. Full of character with a long cone nose and long arms. Totally adorable old early teddy bear repair stitching on his ear. Some repair stitching on both arms but does not detract from the beauty. At some time replacement paws and pads. Black boot button eyes nose thread worn. His face is so charming with fab long nose. 5 /14 inch tall. I have got a scammer on etsy trying to sell this teddy. It is not for sale by me…
Rare early 19th century antique (Georgian Memento Mori Mourning Brooch) complete with antique velvet lined case. Early 19th century skull miniature set beneath its original crystal within a yellow metal untested oval scroll pattern setting still in excellent antique condition. Brooch also has a (C) loop so that it can also be worn as a pendant. Please see pictures as they are part of the discription. Brooch meaures just over one inch in length. Super Country House item which would have been used as a desk tidy or a vide poche on a side table. Apparently unmarked but in the style of Franz Bergman. The base measures 18 x 12 cm, total height is 12.5 cm and it weighs almost 1.7 kg. The attractive marble base has an old repair join across the width but otherwise in good antique condition with wear commensurate with age and use.
