LOVELY and so very very rare. I’ve never seen this wonderful toile before! This lovely textile is French and dates from the early 1800’s. This textile was once a bed curtain and has the most wonderful scalloped top! Peeking under the scalloped edge you can see more of the wonderful toile!! This textile is backed in a finely woven linen and cotton blend and there is a light cotton batting between the layers. It’s hand quilted in a light , diamond pattern. This panel is hand stitched along the edges and the scalloped top section is trimmed with a homespun linen , all hand stitched. A STUNNING and rare toile! The tones have faded beautifully with time to a beautiful pink and rosy red tone This textile has a hem using red thread to shorten the panel, just under the scallop. These red threads can be removed easily. MEASUREMENTS : The wonderful antique toile measures : 20 inches wide by 107 inches long. CONDITION: This textile is in as found, unwashed condition with storage dust. There ares some glorious hand stitched mends on this piece there is some light damage along the side edge The top of the panel has faded with time and just above the scallop the front fabric has little tears from sun damage. Early 1800, Snuff Box, Robert Burns, Tam O’ Shanter, Very rare, Mauchline Ware
Posted by admin On December 29, 2018
An early 1800s era Regency Penwork Snuffbox, with a scene from Tam O’ Shanter, arguably Robert Burns most famous and finest piece of work. Lid fits tightly onto box, hinge has been broken along full length in antiquity. This does not detract and has a positive aspect in that both aspects of box can be displayed. Still in remarkable condition for it’s age, the penwork on the lid has great attention to detail, remember this is not a transfer. Measuring almost 9cm in length and near 5cm in width with a height of 2 cm. This lovely work of art still retains a solid robust feel. May be an early example of Mauchline Ware, but I feel it is of significantly higher quality than that. Been in my home for a lifetime. Near impossible to find and wouldn’t look out of place in Burn’s Museum. Any questions please ask, Thanks. And make sure at New Year, you “get fou and unco’ happy”. The item “Early 1800, Snuff Box, Robert Burns, Tam O’ Shanter, Very rare, Mauchline Ware” is in sale since Monday, December 17, 2018. This item is in the category “Antiques\Woodenware\Boxes”. Antique Gliderole Roller Sled Early 1900’s VERY RARE! Great Graphics
Posted by admin On December 29, 2018
Extremely rare, collectible Gliderole roller sled on 4 wheels. In fact, it had no graphics left at all! Red paint on this one is still bright and looks quite good under the grime. We did not try to clean it up for fear of harming the finish, so we will leave that to you if you want to remove any of the accumulation. Wood has a beautiful glowing patina. Everything is solid and the graphics are AMAZING! The front wheels have replacement rubber on them for looks but I doubt that they would hold up to much riding… Not that you would want to risk riding and crashing such a rare piece! You can easily see the joined part of the rubber… The brake works and the steering is nice and tight. Hubcaps are all nice except 1 has some corrosion/paint loss to the paint… See comparison in 2nd from last and 3rd from last photos. Measures approximately 32″ long by 21″ wide by 7 high. Has a vintage cotton cord attached. The cord is discolored. Just a great, very rare, piece of American toy history! If someone else snags it, you will probably never see another! The item “Antique Gliderole Roller Sled Early 1900’s VERY RARE! Great Graphics” is in sale since Thursday, December 20, 2018.
