RARE BOTTLE CAP Gay-Ola Soda ERROR CAP Early 1900s Glasgow KY Antique COCA-COLA

Offered for sale is the shown original “Gay-Ola” Soda Bottle Cap from the Glasgow Bottling Co. The cap appears to say “Glasgow NY” across the bottom. However the town Glasgow, NY does not exist. So we are a little puzzled by this. One theory we have is that the cap was misprinted, and the “NY” should be KY. We do have documentation that the bottling plant existed in Glasgow KY in 1907. In the last photo is a copy of the State Auditors Report from Kentucky. In this photo at the very bottom “Glasgow Bottling Company” is listed as a business with an established date of 1907 next to it. This further supports the theory that the cap came from Glasgow, KY. Gay-Ola soda was produced from 1911 to the early 1920’s. The company was sued by Coca-Cola and were forced to change the original printed Gay-Ola logo. The original logo is shown on this cap, not the second. This information supports the fact that the cap is around 100 years of age. A very rare find! Impossible to find another one anywhere online. A must have for the right collector of Gay-Ola bottles. Cap is not bent and has original cork inside the cap. Cap may have never been on a bottle, but unable to prove this. Cap was found recently in Glasgow Kentucky. Another one may never surface again, so don’t let this one get away! A little info about Gay-Ola soda found online. It’s rare to ever find anything on Gay-Ola due to the fact it did not last long as it was taken off the market. This soft drink can be traced back to Diva Brown’s formula originated with J. The Gay-Ola trade mark was registered on Jan. Their sales began in sky rocket and The Coca-Cola Company took notice and took the company to court. They won the first court case but lost an appeal and then was forced to change the script logo. But that was not the last of it, as the Coca Cola Company continued to take Gay-Ola to court charging unfair competition due to the diamond shaped label. Very Early Antique Musical Snuff Box 2 Air C. 1820 Swiss Rare Painting Scene

This little Musical Box is one of the very early types, also used as a snuff box, from about 1820. No makers name, signs or tune names! This musical snuff box would have been carried around in the gentlemans pocket and used as form of portable entertainment! What makes this a little different is the hand painted picture in the lid, decorated with a gold border and gold frame, silver tab and hinge and a tortoiseshell case. One of the main characteristics of this being an early movement is the segmented comb, it is split in to sections rather than one long piece of steel as found on later musical boxes. It also has the teeth going from treble to bass (left to right) rather than bass to treble and the governor top is vertical rather than at an angle, two signs of it being a very early piece. Another is the detail in the music, earlier boxes have much more elaborate arrangements and a gentler tone. Please watch the videos to enjoy this almost 200 year old musical antique! Baxter – Early RARE SIGNED 1900’s Steiff C1908 Teddy Bear Antique Old FF BUTTON. Introducing Baxter – I love him! He dates to around 1908 and was made by Steiff. He is fully jointed, stuffed with woodwool and stands around 16.5inches tall from toe to ear tip! He really is such a joyous bear!!!! He retains his original boot button eyes, felt pads, original facial and claw stitching. He also retains his original burnt orange ribbon and ff button to his ear! Is also extra special as during the 1980’s his owner took him to get his foot autographed by Steiff Family members; Hans-Otto Steiff (who was president of Steiff, and his great grand-aunt was Margarete Steiff) and his wife Birgit Eitle Steiff! Baxter is covered in lots of fluffy blonde mohair with long limbs and a hump. He has a really friendly smiley face and would be an extra special addition for any antique bear collector. It feels a privilege to hold such a wonderful bear who is over a century old!!!! He is photographed here with his Teddy Baby friends and his best friend 1930’s Hoggle the brown steiff, who are all looking for homes. With beautiful classical inlaid scenes centrally and on the side supports, and finished in a quality contemporary charcoal grey upholstery. Rare Find Early Victorian Walnut Howard & Son’s Fully Restored Club Armchair

There are around 50-100 high definition super-sized pictures at the bottom of this page. I have a Howard and Son’s sofa listed under my other items that has just been restored to the same standard. This chair has been on a journey, as you can see from the pre-restoration pictures it came to me with a rather bulky modern upholstery on it, I carefully and painstakingly removed the modern fabric to find a stunning rare walnut framed early Victorian Howard & Sons armchair complete with some original distressed upholstery, they had even taken the time to cut out the little H & S initials from the fabric. The back leg is stamped with the serial number, the castors are Cope & Collingson which is the only company Howard & Sons would use as they could make them to Howard’s specification. The chair has been fully restored as you can see, its been reupholstered by a third generation Victorian upholsterer and then hand dyed this lovely tobacco brown colour by my leather polishers, simply put this chair is the finest example you will find anywhere today. Howard & Sons are simply put the finest chair makers in history, the Queen even has a private collection. Width:- 74.5cm. Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask. A History of Howard and Sons. The name of Howard and Sons is probably one of the best known and highly sought after names in Upholstered furniture. Over the next few paragraphs I will do my best to give you a brief history of the company. The company was started by John Howard in 1820 trading from 24 Leman St, London as a Cabinet Maker. Over the next 25 years they would make several changes of premises within the Whitechapel area. First to 27 Great Alie St (Now just Alie St) before moving a short distance to 34 Great Alie St. In 1844 the company made its first venture into upholstered furniture by opening a showroom/workshop at 36 Red lion St. This was also to be a big move towards what would be their next and most famous location. In 1848 they moved to a new address much more accustomed with the name; Berners St. London as Cabinet Maker, Upholsterer and Decorator under the name John Howard and Sons. The business seemed to boom at this location with workshops opening up at Tottenham St, Charlotte Mews and Fitzroy Sq and an expansion to a second Berners St building in 1853. In 1869 the company consolidated its many workshops into the one building on Cleveland St. By 1872 the company was occupying 25, 26 and 27 Berners St. These adresses would remain unchanged until 1935. During this period they became a limited company in 1899 and won the first of their Royal warrants in 1901. In 1935 the the well established decorators Lenygon and Morant appear to take over the name with the business address being given as 31 Old Burlington St (Lenygon and Morants premesis since 1909). Lenygon and Morant later moved to South Audley St where from 1954 they advertised as’Makers of Howard Chairs and Sofas’. In 1967 the owners of Lenygon and Morant open Howard Chairs Limited, the company operating from Lyme St continue to make high quality sofas and armchairs. Exhibitions and Important Houses. At the 1862 International Exhibition (The 3rd World Expo) Howard and Sons entered a suite of library furniture for which they won a prize. They also went on to exhibit at the Paris World’s Fair, called an Exposition Universelle twice; once in 1878 and again in 1900. Also at the Exposition Internationale d’Anvers 1894 (International Exposition/World Fair Antwerp). Winning Prizes at them all including 1 silver and 2 golds. They also employed their eclectic styles working for many important clients providing furniture for important houses such as Sudbury Hall in Derbyshire, Elton Hall, Huntingdonshire and Stokesay Court, Shropshire.
