15 Pieces of Superb Rare Antique (1920s) English Thomas Forester & Sons “Darby” Phoenix China Ware. Lovely Imari pattern and all in almost perfect condition. The gold gilding is intact and all pieces are free from damage without chips, cracks or crazing. Thomas Forester started business at a small works in the High Street, Longton and he soon took additional premises in Church Street. He demolished the Church Street Works and built the Phoenix works which he completed in 1879. In the beginning of 1883 he took his sons Herbert and Victor into partnership. The company started as Thomas Forester in the 1870s and appeared in the Pottery Gazette regularly during the 1880s. They specialised in the manufacturing of majolica and earthenware. The business was incorporated as a Limited Company in 1891 and by 1893 it was recorded as employing 520 people at the “Imperial and Phoenix Works”. In 1900, the company employed over 700 people in the Staffordshire area and was seen as one of the largest producers of majolica in England in the late 1800s. In their prime, the company had showrooms in London, Paris, Berlin and Vienna. This was due to a combination of World War II when production was very limited and by the Clean Air Act that was introduced in 1956. This move stopped the use of bottle ovens and the business finally closed in June 1959. The work of Thomas Forester & Sons is still present today in the form of antiques. Pre-1900 the company was known for producing a vast range of Majolica. Techniques were later improved, which led to the production of many elaborate art pottery designs including Trogon Ware during the 1920s and 1930s. This item is in the category “Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Decorative Pottery, Ceramics & Glass\Vases”. The seller is “santoor-uk” and is located in this country: GB. This item can be shipped worldwide.

Very Rare Early 19thC English Demilune Creamware Bough Pot & Cover Hackwood
Very Rare Early 19thC English Demilune Creamware Bough Pot & Cover – Hackwood? ENGLISH CREAMWARE BOUGH POT. One of several really good pieces of listed this Week…. We are unsure of the maker but our research has found just one similar item considered to be by William Hackwood who worked, on occasion with Wedgwood. (Although this is a much cleaner and fresher example) Additionally, we have found similar decoration on Davenport but not this wonderful demilune shape with bun feet. Therefore – please judge. What is not in doubt is the quality of this piece. It has stately home decoration and, unusually the cover is present and complete. 9 inches / 230 mm across and 190mm tall Overall in good condition with wear commensurate with age. It does have a small hairline at the rear. Please check our other items – there is sure to be something you like. Any questions – please just ask. We are constantly sourcing collections and single items and try to have something for any and everyone. We accept cheques and will despatch once cleared. MODERN ERCOL RARE CONSOLE TABLE. This is a very good modern Ercol Console table. The table is in excellent virtually showroom condition. The ercol colour code we think is light. The table is made of solid ash with two lined drawers. We date this table from tje late 20th century. The dimensions are as follows. We try to keep deliveries in house and avoid white van man cowboy couriers. We cover all of England and Wales apart from Cornwall and as far north as Glasgow and Edinburgh. In the few places that we don’t deliver, we can recommend a very good courier. In most cases, we deliver as a 2 man team, so assistance is very rarely required. It may also be possible for us to collect from other sellers and deliver at the same time, so keeping your cost down. If work commitments are a problem, we may be able to deliver from 6am if required. We also try to give a three hour time window so you dont have to stay in all day, any unforseen problems on the road, (so far we have never been late) you will be kept informed.
