Antique Rare Early Georgian Large Pinchbeck Coiled Snake Brooch Circa 1790 N/R
September 30, 2018
The brooch is set with glass turquoise eyes and is made in Pinchbeck. The brooch is formed as a large snake coiled at each end this brooch has been converted in the Victorian period to a brooch from an 18th century buckle. The pin is steel and is in good working order. Please note there is some wear to the gilding on the pinchbeck and there are scratches to the surface where the bloom has worn away however this is to be expected with a piece of this age. The brooch measures 7.5 cm in length by 3 cm in width and is unusually large for its type most i have seen which is only a few are very small. Please study photos in depth as these are a part of the description. Condition is good and original all stones are complete.
