Rare Grenier Dark Oxblood 9 Tornado Antique German Handmade Marble Early 27/32′

An Antique German Handmade Oxblood Tornado’Grenier’ Marble. This very collectible and interesting early antique marble was hand made between 1850 and 1860. It is among the earliest type of handmade German glass marbles, from an important and formative period in history of marble making. Grenier’ marbles are consequently highly sought after by collectors and marble historians alike. They are now known as known as’transitional’ marbles due to being produced during a short period of time in Thuringa, Germany; before the cane and rod types. They were handmade by the Grenier family using a hand-gathered technique of swirling and forming the marble; in this case this has created an embryonic floating form within, surrounded by tornado-style swirl-and-tail patterns with a perfect’9′ in generous helping of very dark cochineal oxblood from tip to tail. With whiplash lines and creamy white, in a translucent, galactic base. It is finished with a finely crafted single ground faceted pontil, in the manner of all Greniers; and remains true to type with the muted, sophiticated colours, and beautiful, spontaneous abstraction of design. A real collector’s marble. Size: 21.5mm or 0.84” or 27/32” inch. Condition: In very good condition for it’s age, this marble has a chip near the pontil and a patch of pitting. The wear is all upon one side only; as can be clearly seen in the pictures and video. The slightly textured appearence is a hallmark of this type. Up for your consideration is this RARE C. 1930 BEAUTIFUL Antique Gebruder Plein German Porcelain – Budgerigar / Budgie Bird Figurine. 3 1/4″ high x 7″ long x 3 deep. It has a tiny chip at the tip of the tail that has been touched up and a hairline crack across the end of the tail feather. These are both hard to see but mentioned for accuracy (see last photo). Company mark on the bottom with HANDGEMALL (Hand Painted). Clean from a pet free, smoke free environment. Please check out my other auctions for more cool stuff. I have provided several pictures. Rare! Complete! Antique 18th C Brass Tinder Box Striker Flint Early American

For sale is a RARE early American antique tinder box with its complete assembly of fire starting tools (a flint rock, a iron striker, and some tinder fiber). The box was hand hammered and formed with brass by highly skilled metal smith in the 1700s. This tinder box is a essential tool carried by colonial American pioneers to kindle fire in the wilderness and to start a fire for a primitive hearth. This particular box is in octagon form with domed sides. It measures approximately 2.5″ by 2″, 1.25 thick. The lid snaps shut properly with all content inside. Nice original wrought iron lock mechanism can be observed in the interior. The hinge is sturdy. The Initials “J B” are lightly scratched on the lid. Overall, a rare example of colonial American pioneer’s tinder box that should not be passed by any serious collectors of early Americana /colonial tools/ wrought iron antiquities.
