1807 The Life & Adventures of ROBINSON CRUSOE. Illustrated Rare Early Antique Book. I will be listing a large number of ANTIQUARIAN and COLLECTABLE BOOKS over the coming weeks. Offered here is an extremely RARE Early Edition of ROBINSON CRUSOE from 1807. This BOOK is titled THE LIFE AND MOST SURPRISING ADVENTURES OF ROBINSON CRUSOE, OF YORK, MARINER. WHO LIVED EIGHT AND TWENTY YEARS IN AN UNINHABITED ISLAND, ON THE COAST OF AMERICA, NEAR THE MOUTH OF THE GREAT RIVER ORONOOKA, WITH AN ACCOUNT OF HIS DELIVERANCE THENCE, AND HIS AFTER SURPRISING ADVENTURES. It explains all about this Explorer and mariners Expedition and Adventures. This is by Daniel Defoe but this is not mentioned in this book, I dont know why, it is probably because it is such an early copy. The publication or publisher and printing details read; LONDON Printed for J. BRAMBLES, A MEGGITT, and J. This is ILLUSTRATED I dont believe this is a first edition as it reads A NEW EDITION, COMPLETE IN ONE VOLUME, WITH VERY ELEGANT CUTS, DESCRIPTIVE OF THE SUBJECT. This Book is complete. This is a very Early EDITION hardback. It has worn page ends and the cover appears to have been replaced many years ago. There is foxing on various pages and the cover has come away from the pages but the book is still bound together. Previous owners names are in the front in ink, these include C. TOPHAMS the gift of M. DUFFIELD esq 1809, and what appears to be AMY MARLETT 1873. This is an extremely rare BOOK which is complete, and although the condition lets it down a little it would be a lovely addition to an antiquarian, antique or collectable book collection… The cover measures approx 6 inches x 3.75 inches I will package this extremely well. This beautiful American first edition retains the stunning original dustjacket. The jacket bears an amazing original sticker stating this book as an’Honor Book’. Beautifully illustrated throughout, this is a rare find. In Good Plus Condition. See photos for accurate description. Dustjacket largely complete – has some small losses, some weakening in place. Attractive but with ageing. Covers bright, hinges showing a little wear. Good inside with antique ex libris sticker. Largely very nice inside – a strong copy in all.
