FINE QUALITY RARE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED SLIDING TOP TANGRAM PUZZLE BOX WITH PUZZLES. This is a very Rare Breath Taking. Late 18th early 19th Century Chinese Tangram Carved Puzzle Box with Puzzles, i would estimate a date of circa 1800. Making this rare puzzle box over 200 years old. This rare puzzle box has a sliding lid carved with five figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs, some figures are carrying tools and walking across a bridge to a small boat with a gentleman inside waiting for them, all this is in a `bamboo` frame. To the other side of this amazing Tangram Box you will see another carved rural scene with three figures and pagodas with flowering shrubs, There are carved dragons around three sides of the box and the forth side has the most beautiful folaige, on sliding the top off you will see this still retains some of the beautifully carved Tangram puzzles pieces, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 18th Century Gentleman many years ago when times were so very different, if this box could talk i can just imagine what fascinating stories it could tell, this Tangram Puzzle box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice. The condition is nice with no actual damage to the carving, with just a couple of chips to the inside of the slide top and one puzzle piece’s seems firm inside, i wont try to remove it, i will leave that for the new owners to do, this is breath taking , this is such a rare object.
