RARE EARLY to MID 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE IN D I A N HINDU GODDESS SARASWATI FIGURATIVE BRONZE SCULPTURE, with ORIGINAL, NATURALLY AGED PATINA & EPISODES of VERDIGRIS, with HEADDRESS, FOUR ARMS PLAYING STRING INSTRUMENT’RAGHUNATHA VEENA. SITTING on LOTUS FLOWER. Early to mid-19th century In d i a n sand cast bronze Hindu spiritual bronze sculpture of Goddesses. 8″ Height x 5″ Width x 2 ½ Depth. For sale is this spectacular and undamaged, early and 100% untouched and undisturbed early to mid-19th century In d i a n antique bronze figurative metal sculpture of the mythological In d i a n Goddess Saraswati, with her legendary four arms, two of which clutch and play an In d i a n sitar or’raghunaatha veena’ string instrument. The bronze is cast in the In d i a n traditional bronze sand casting method. The bronze still has its naturally aged, oxidized and heavily tarnished surfaces, with episodes of verdigris patina. The bronze has a variegated surface with fluctuating color, varying between a honey or amber, to deep burnt sienna, chocolate and sepia brown metallic hues, punctuated by minty green episodes of verdigris found principally in the recesses of the sgraffito incised descriptive mark-making on the surfaces of the In d i a n Goddess figure Saraswati. The bronze hasn’t been rinsed, oiled or polished with any kind of polishing agent, bronze cleaner or metal brightening paste. The antique Indian bronze figure remains largely as it was originally constituted. An incredible early-mid 19th century In d i a n artifact. Authentic and absolutely original. Saraswati is the In d i a n Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She’s a part of the trinity (Tridevi) of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. Rare find from estate sale! This is a beautiful porcelain teacup and saucer made by Flight, Barr & Barr between 1813 and 1840 – but most probably circa 1815, which was the Regency era. Peach ground gold gilt leaf pattern. This peach ground color is rare as it was very difficult to produce; if the kiln temperature was only slightly too high or too low, the color would come out an ugly brown and the items would have to be thrown away. Given that kilns were fired on coal fires, you can imagine how hard it was to achieve this beautiful color and it would only have been done for the most exclusive sets. The pinched handle is typical for Flight and Barr. Meaning free from cracks chips repairs or crazing. No signs of use for example (utensil marks, scuffs, stains, gold loss or pattern wear). Which leads me to believe this set was for display only as part of a collection. Referenced in Geoffrey A. Description: Here we have a very unique and rare Bronze Egyptian Door knob! This is around 1890s- 1900s. This is a lot more heavy duty and heavy than a lot of doorknobs Ive had. Great subject matter and patina. I was told that this came out of the Eagles Nest in Long Island which was owned by one of the Vanderbilts. This could also be Tiffany, as that house was very finely put together with the highest of quality things, along with a lot of Tiffany. Nice condition for the age. A Great Addition to Any Collection. Antique Sewing Machine Rare Early 1900s VESTA B Working L O Dietrich Germany. This beautiful sewing machine was produced by Vesta, who manufactured sewing machines in the Leipzig/Altenburg area of Germany between the late 1800s and 1938. The company was originally formed by 3 locksmiths, Leopold O. Dietrich, Hermann Köhler and Gustav Winselmann. They had very limited experience in producing sewing machines and initial were “inspired by” SINGER machines, but would eventually produce their own designs. Had left and established a new factory in Altenburg under the VESTA name, whilst the other two founders would form their own company. Post WW2, the company never restarted as a private enterprise and reopened as’VEB Sewing Machine Works Altenburg’ and would continue until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990. Vesta produced a number of models, with this particular example being a VESTA-B and bearing the serial number S1256729. Vesta machines are rare in the UK, particularly for machines which are working and in good cosmetic condition. Furthermore, this example comes with original spare parts, spare needles in an original pack, and an original Vesta manual/parts list (all in excellent condition for their age). The sewing machine is in good order and sews well (see pictures 11 and 12 for example of output). Cosmetically, the machine is in very good condition for its age, with only minor wear to the decals. The case has seen some woodworm at some point, but it does not appear to be a major issue and is otherwise in good condition. In the latter case, we will send you an invoice ASAP.
