EARLY ROBERT MOUSEMAN CHEESE BOARD WITH SIGNATURE MOUSE ON THE BOARD c1950. An early Robert Mouseman Thompson cheese board with the signature mouse placed on the board. Mouseman cheese boards with the mouse on the board were only produced up until 1960, after this date the mouse was repositioned onto the handle to provide more strength. It is in used condition and has visible signs of use including knife marks on top of the board, the signature mouse has also suffered under the knife with very little tail left (please see pictures). It is a medium oak colour and measures 37cms long and 118cms wide. A good early piece of Mouseman, approximately 70 years old. It will be very carefully packaged and sent tracked and signed. I have quite a few Mouseman pieces for sale, including a burr oak stool, a burr oak chair, and an arm chair – please see my other items. They are far too fine to have been dressing tablemats and the characterful paintings appear as if they are from a story. It’s not a story I know or have been able to uncover but they look like illustrations from a. Believed to be from the early 1900s. They are on gossamer-thin silk with a fringed edge and measure 15cms x 15cms. I have taken half of the photos with flash and the others without. I wanted to show that several have a couple of minor brown’foxing-like’ marks and two have many more. The silk appears in good condition structurally. I have provided several comparison pictures between this plate and a documented RSP. Mold form is shown on page 53, plate 200 – 204 see the. Decoration style in blue page 47 / 59, plate 173 / 230. Ribbon decoration page 62, plate 246 many other examples in this book. RARE Early RS Prussia serving plate. 2 Sand pipers standing on water lilies in underglaze cobalt blue with an over glaze ribbon out line colored in gold. Rare, rare, rare decoration & subject! Chop plate for serving, has a dished out bottom. In the comparison photo of the back sides, you see different sized strength rings. Because the chop plate on the right is to hold a pile of meat weighing more than the cake plate on the left would be asked to carry, hence the larger strength ring on the bottom of this plate. Cobalt blue under glaze with outline ribbon decoration in Gold on top. Marple reference, Formative years. No cracks or repairs. 1 edge chip see picture. 10 1/2 inches wide.
