A Georgian silver desk stand, with two capped glass inkwells and a central pen holder with beaded decoration, raised on ball and claw feet, London 1778, maker William Plumber. Antique Victorian Silver Inkwell Superb. This outstanding Georgian solid silver inkwell will make an impressive addition to your desk, with its detailed pretty and delicate floral engravings throughout, a fantastic quality base which holds 2 glass inkwells in excellent condition as well as a prettily decorated candle holder. Would make a great addition to your desk or collection! Hallmarked to the underside of the stand for London 1778 by William Plummer. The three pierced silver bottle holders are each part hallmarked with the lion passant. The bottle caps and collars are unmarked. In excellent condition with light surface wear commensurate with age. There is no glass damage and the bottles would appear to be original and matching. A little clouding of the silver on the inkstand base. Approximate hallmarked silver weight is 6.2 troy ounces. Approximate total weight is 1.264 kilos. Approximate dimensions are 18 cm length, 13cm width and. This item displays beautifully but there is a obvious repair to on of the leg which looks as though it has been done a very long time ago. Iam sure this could be made tidier by a professional but I think it just adds to the charm of the piece and I have reflected this damage in the asking price. Both glass inkwells are 100 % original and in superb condition for their age. This lovely item can be used exactly as intended over 244 years ago. I really don’t want to sell this but my wife has pulled rank and I want it to go to someone who will display it and appreciate its beauty. This would make a beautiful present or indulgent treat. If you have a favourite pen like me it’s a perfect way to have it on display. Us serious collectors have spent a fortune on pens but who has a more characterful charming way to show them off. Antique Early 1800s French 18k Gold Perpignan Garnet Marquise Ring Hallmarked. Bezel: 1.9 cm (length), 1.1 cm (width). Ring size: US8 (#56). This is a marquise ring of Perpignan garnet, France, circa 1880. The back is also tightly closed with 18k gold, showing the distinctive technique of connecting the center stone to the surrounding stones. Among the Perpignan garnets, the older ones from the 1800s have excellent color and are rarely available. The shank has a leaf design, which shows the beauty of antique garnets in harmony with nature. There are some stains from age, but there is no damage to the garnet and it is in very good condition. The eagle’s head engraving, which indicates 18k or higher gold in France, is also clearly visible. There is a slight depression in the closed setting area on the back, but this is common on older Perpignan garnet jewelry. Please check the sixth photo. Meissen Magpie Bird on Stump Porcelain Large Art Deco. This is a handsome Meissen bird s perched on elaborate detailed grey tree trunk base with pastel green foliage. The Magpie is very lifelike, and finely modeled in a handsome pose, with a long raised erect tail. The bird has beautiful black and white plumage with a black face and coal black eyes, open beak with coral red tongue. On the undersides is the Meissen mark. The composition of the piece is exquisitely laid out in a natural setting. The coloration and glaze accentuates the beayty of the Magpie. Look carefully at photographs, for the molding on the wings, tail, feet and base branch… Details in the unique way that is the hallmark of Meissen porcelain figurines. It is finished in a shiny glaze and painted in vivid hues. The massive bird stands approximately 21 inches tall from base to top of tail on base of about 4 1/2” diameter. In very good condition with no damage that I have noticed. Meissen- Modelled originally by JJ Kaendler – The bird is marked underneath the base with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark and incised line below, and additional incised model mark 0f No. 62-Most probably very late 19th Century or early 20th century. The bird is from a private collection of birds- an antique entrepreneur of the 1940’s and 1950’s who amassed these porcelain figurines mostly in 1950’s- They are from the collection of my father John Hall Haardt- He carefully chose many fine Meissen, Worcester, Rosenthal’s. See my Mother’s Antique Magazine she colected years ago with Magpie and info. Meissen, near Dresden in Germany, started in 1710. The artistic influence of the designer J. Kändler and the painter J. Hoeroldt, formed the unique team that initiated the creation of delicate and fine wares, and Meissen gained a reputation for quality equal to that of the very finest Chinese porcelain in production at the time.
