Wonderful and rare antique French doll, Jumeau Triste Doll, on early French Composition Ball Jointed Body with straight wrists, 24 tall. She is known as the long face Jumeau, as she has a wistful expression. She was only made from. 1893 to 1898, by the French sculptor Carrier-Belleuse, as commissioned by Jumeau to make this very special doll. She wears a wonderful silk lined, wine red velvet & lace dress, with a bebe bonnet. She has a full slip and pantaloons with lace. She has all her fingers, Closed mouth, Incised on the back of her head is “11”. This Jumeau Triste is one of the most stunning examples of this rare and much sought after antique French doll. She has one of the most beautiful faces of this model. Her bisque head shows no chips or cracks. There is a restoration inside front top of head that is not visible outside of the face. There is a hairline inside top right of head that is not visible on the outside of the face. The body has been repainted. She has one earring, applied ears. 15 Early Bebe Jumeau. Beautiful and perfect bisque head incised only 5 in the neck socket and red artist check mark near crown. Peaches and cream bisque. Brown paperweight eyes are in their original plaster set. The original spring is in the head. No cracks, chips or hairlines. There is a bisque flake around each earring hole. Head, clothes, shoes and a wig are not for sale. Rare and early, articulating, doll body by Jumeau EJ. The body is made of wood and papier-mache. Very beautiful and detailed body in excellent condition. Special attention should be paid to the hands, they are straight wrist, without a hinge. On the arms and legs of the doll are ball joints, allowing the doll to take different positions. Body height – 37 cm. All the details in the photo. I have indicated all sizes in centimeters. You can see on the last photos in the listing. I showed the growth of the body itself, and separately the height of the head. Now the body does not have a native head, but the head that is installed on the body looks good (see photos 1 and 3) The visible part of the head in the neck has 10 cm. The part that is immersed in the body has 2 centimeters, that is, it is immersed all the way down the hole. In photo 4, the growth of the body is separate. With a head of this size, the doll looks proportionate, and natural. If your head has the same dimensions around the circumference, as well as the dimensions of the neck (in diameter and height), then this body will suit you. Stand not for sale. EXTREMELY RARE EARLY 16 BEBE JUMEAU ANTIQUE DOLL signed body and shoes

From a private collection, this doll is all original. Stamped “J” on head (see picture). Spiral spring neck attachment and pressed bisque socket head. Blue stamped body: “Jumeau Medaille D’or Paris” (see picture). 8 Ball jointed composition & wood straight wrist body. N very good condition, some signs of wear, slight flaking on one of the thumbs (see pic). Stunning face, blush complexion, beautiful deep blue eyes, pierced ears, closed mouth, blond long curly wig. Blue silk Taffeta dress with grosgrain ribbon & bow on back waist. Pin at neck and 3 buttons down front of bodice. Fixed under-petticoat sewn to dress + 2 cotton petticoats and vest and long bloomers with lace around the bottom. Lace slightly coming away on one leg (see picture). Slight wear / fading on the dress. Hat: same fabric as dress with grosgrain ribbon and brooch at front, and bow on the back. Knitted white cotton socks. Shoes: Original stamped E. Brown leather with rosette on front. Slight wear on back of one shoe. After purchasing, this doll will be professionally packed, tracked and insured. Antique 14 early Jumeau hand pressed, closed mouth doll, rare 8 ball body

This is a very early (pre 1890’s) hand pressed bisque socket head French doll by Jumeau. She has her original set brown glass eyes and a lightly painted shaded closed mouth. She’s marked on the back of her head: 6. These early Jumeau dolls were marked only with a size number and they did not have the wide cheeks of the better known later Jumeau face. This doll has a professionally repaired forehead. It does not show on the surface. She came to me already repaired and I’m not sure what has been done but looking inside the head it looks like an upside down “V” shaped repair. I put a light in the head (photo #9) but the forehead has been air-brushed and doesn’t show much. Her eyebrows may have been touched-up but I believe the rest of her beautiful face is factory original. The area seen on the right side of her head (photo #8) is not a crack but appears to be an uneven paint layer. She’s on a straight wrist rare eight ball body that’s in great original condition and is well strung. This is a very old doll so there is some expected wear on the body paint. She came to me with no clothing. Her clothes have been entirely made from Victorian childrens clothing. She wears a very old hand made mohair wig. It is somewhat worn out but it’s what she had and may be original. Besides, I like the way it looks on her! It’s only pinned to the pate so it’s easily changed. The added head band is lightly sewn to the wig to cover the obvious hand sewn part of the wig. It’s easy enough to remove. This is an exceptionally beautiful doll, there are not many of these left in the world. The doll stand is not included. Thank you for looking at my sale. Rare Early Antique Jumeau Doll 5, Closed Mouth, Straight Wrists, 15, Cork Pate

RARE Early Antique Jumeau doll, closed mouth, threaded paperweight blue eyes with original body, straight wrists, and cork pate circa 1880’s. She has on a newer hand made blonde mohair wig and will come with her hand made antique hat. She is 15 tall, cabinet size. This doll does have a few hairline stable cracks in her bisque head. She has a very faint one on her forehead coming down to eye and a chip on the back of her rim that becomes another going down neck. These do not detract from her overall beauty but do make her more affordable. She is wearing a beautiful silk dress and will come with antique underclothes and leather shoes.
