A very rare early Georgian silver English Provincial Hanoverian pattern table spoon dating to c1730, made by Sampson Bennett of Falmouth. Struck four times on the stem with his maker’s mark which is illustrated on page 70 of’West Country Silver Spoons and their Makers’ by Timothy Kent, and was registered on June 25. Inscribed’ER 1731′ on the terminal. The back of the bowl with a well-defined rattail, and having a pronounced ridge to the terminal at the front. The spoon is in excellent collector’s condition, having a good colour, the bowl with minimal wear and the marks pretty good for a provincial spoon of this date. Sampson Bennet of Falmouth c1730.
